How's that old joke go? I have anal glaucoma... I can't see my ass going to work today.

How long do you think it would take me to get fired if I simply stopped going in the field everyday? I may have an answer for you after this year is complete. Afterall, don't want to start now, as I want my annual bonus.

With doing nothing it will take them some time to recognize it and begin to document it. You should be able to make it until the end of the year pretty easy especially with the holidays coming up. But why not work 12-15 hours a week and keep that check rolling in for as long as possible? That's what I do.

It really doesn't matter how many hours you put in right now. If you work 50 hours a week or 10 it doesn't matter. What matters is salary and age. If you are in your mid 40's or older and making a decent salary, you are an easy target. It doesn't really matter how hard you work or how many awards you won in the past. I know dozens of cases where these reps were let go just because their salaries were decent and that is all that matters to Mother.

Let's face it, we have no new drugs or indications coming anytime soon. There are vacant territories out there right now that are kicking ass. This job is nothing but a charade anyway. Really it's just a crap shoot on how the objectives are set. Just create the illusion of work with your manager and within your team.

I have been doing this for over a year now and I'm fine. Seriously I only work maybe 12 hours a week now and my numbers are no different than those who are working 50. Check your VM and email on regular basis. Don't ever show up on dashboards and get your expenses and stuff in on time and you will be good to go.

I have this down to a science now. Have a great time off the next couple of months. Cheers to you brother (or sister)! I will raise a toast to you later today when I'm off the golf course!

    Regards,

    The 15x15 Guy

I am in oncology, where granted call reporting isnt as important as the primary care area. We never really had to do it till recently. But I can tell you I maybe work a few hours a week. Just check the boxes. They dont care about important things- only merck silly stuff.

Hey, I missed you dickwad! Your lazy crooked personality is what will be removed during the next downturn. We have you all pegged - as you recall a bounty system has been in place with the S3s to pin point your criminal activities. IT and HR are on board for rapid response. Enjoy the time you have left. I am so pleased that I will have an early happy hour in anticipation.

Exactly! I rest my case. It has become all about the box check. Although nobody is gonna say they are on my 15x15 plan to anyone's face, I would say about half are doing it. Although maybe not to the extent that I am doing it! High winds knocked us off the golf course so I'm gonna go to the theatre and see Argo.

I love you 15 x 15 guy - you are my hero at this incredibly silly place! It is all about appearances, being good at the charade, keeping appropriate boxes checked, doing all administrative stuff in a timely manner, and never appearing on the dreaded dashboard. Lead on!

finley.....you are so full of it....be your world a dream or reality. I happen to believe the former. If you truly existed at Merck, you wouldn't be able to seriously espouse all that bs that makes Merck appear efficient and competent. IT and HR and rapid response? The laughter is killing me......

I realize I got a great CTL...hell, I'll probably go catch an Argo matinee with him! Thank God I've got a decent one and not one of the awful ones that are so ubiquitous at Merck nowadays. Nothing lasts forever so enjoying it while it lasts.

Getting ready for the big storm projected to hit Philly. Must go to the state store for libations, hit the film store for porno, bring home the files to review rep terminations, draft my telephone layoff / termination announcement, sign off on S3 bonuses / stock options and discuss actions with HR. Hope everyone has a wet weekend.

    Idiot.
Everyone knows managers, if you are indeed a manager, have no control over lay-offs, etc...

They have you convinced that you have that much authority? Must be under the influence when writing it? They still call video store "film store" in your neighborhood? You don't watch them online? You are to read the layoff/termination script word for word as the medical legal people have sent. Your director has said "yes" to the bonuses and stock options and now you can sign and pretend you are the "man".

Fake manager, total bull ___ artist....Bring home the files....I am a manager, all managers work from home. If shit head had a file on anyone it would be in home office already.

Documentation is kept on e-files, back and forth between DCO, CTL and HR...e-files.

I have to admit you are a bit entertaining...dumb, but entertaining

The fact that most people nervously admonish Finley cracks me up. Just like you nervously suck up to your CTL and DCO in real time. The only thing believable about Finley is that he/she acts like they wield so much power yet admit they slack off. Just like real time CTLs/DCOs.

Finley is as real as reps/CTLs that put in a 60 hour week. Finley is a caricature of the CTL that likes to cut out after 3 calls with their favorite reps after a FV yet sends an email here and there late at night (when they can't sleep) or on a weekend (between beers or at halftime) to show everyone that they are working off the clock...BTW 'great' CTL, you don't have us fooled.
