Just wondering, is the new partnership with Quintiles leading towards layoffs or rumors of possible layoffs? I have seen a huge jump in the amount of current Biogen applicants and was wondering if this was the cause?

Same here! I came on here looking to get the same very answer. My company and department more specifically has seen a large increase in current Biogen employees applying. I had always thought this was the lone safe haven in life sciences right now and had heard it was slowly becoming a Vertex refugee camp

Moving to contract reps. Less salary, less benefits, no RSU's, even smaller bonus..no loss in share of voice or talent!! Easy decision. BYE BYE,,,cheese line here we come.

When a pharma goes in partnership with a CRO for development, it typically means that 8-90% of your studies will be outsourced and there will be far less of a need for positions such as Clinical Trial Associates, Clinical Operations Analyst, CRAs (monitors) or study managers. There are no postings, because the work that was previously done in-house is being done outside of the company walls, and out of state.

When this does happen, they shift over the people they want to keep and let-go/push out the ones they don't want any longer.

This won't stop Biogen from reporting the same headcount numbers publicly however. They will count the CRO employees working on their studies as FTEs still. If they didn't, then they would have to explain why they lost a few hundred in their total headcount total, and also be forced to pay the state of MA back all the multi-million dollar employment incentives they receive each year.

When you see your company go into a partnership, you need to switch over to a position that will still be kept in-house no matter what or jump to another company, notable a smaller start-up

In this situation, any new hires that will be working on Biogen related clinical trials, will be with Quintiles or using employees already working for Quintiles. No Biogen postings. When companies are smart about their CRO outsourcing model, they dump the CTAs, CRAs and most Trial Managers. You have mostly associate director level and alliance management types managing the operations.

first two posters are Bull shit artists. They are the only fools that count openings and look to start what might lead to any conversation about sales force size, number of reps, possible expansions and lay offs. Why should we feed their lazy asses? Get a real job "consultant" ass holes.

You do realize that Quintiles is on the Development side of the business, not sales? This has nothing to do with sales reps. R&D all the way dumb ass

Listen to the smart ass. Whatever, development, strategic agreement, sales, any outsourcing, you're a fool if you don't think the morons researching for competitors are not in a desperate search for a conversation on any aspect of it.

a bit paranoid, are we? Hardly anything that is make or break anything worthwhile. If you're one of the fools that do think that, you need to realize you and the impact you have in your department are nothing. Small fish in a very large pond. Get over yourself
