The idiot VP of "Research" here has been promoting a "innovation not encouraged" culture.
Says we should leave if we are not happy with that motto, and not complain about lack of better career opportunities, in our all-hands meetings.

Is this for real?? And he is the VP of Research! Has a pretty sleazy, conniving and arrogant personality otherwise too. Over the years, he pretty much let go of every bright person that was doing anything remotely intelligent in this place. Doesn't like anybody that is smarter than him, and he is an idiot. Probably got himself up to the level of VP by kissing butt..

Is this typical of most other Roche divisions? Is this typical Roche culture? Or is this all big pharma culture? Anybody that has worked at other pharmas care to share their insight please?

Yep! Walter Koch, the VP of research here is a complete dense-skulled idiot. Very political. Hates technology and smart people with a passion. He should be asked to crawl back into the caves he crawled out from. Made a huge dump out of this place.

Would love to see him thrown out.

this is happening all over Roche. people in a bubble in insular Indiana making uninformed decisions for all. the management is made up of people who are corporate robots. No innovative people or real experts in their field. just the same cookie cutter people promoted again and again. Moved around from one dept to another dept. Protecting their careers not doing what's best for the employees, business, patients.

    Indeed.

Being a corporate robot, and a smooth talking politico is one thing. Icing on the cake, I have seen this man, Walter Koch, constantly talk less of much more intelligent people than him (several of them), just because they came from or went to lesser known companies. According to this fool, the only barometer of success is working (or pretending to work, like him), for Pharma giants like Roche. Little does he realize that they are running from morons like him.

But then again not too surprised, given his single digit IQ. Feeling sick to the stomach that these are the clowns that are influencing the healthcare industry.

Each one of Walter Koch's actions so far have only proved what a first-class idiot he is.
He is the kind of sub-human filth that Roche's upper-management needs. Else, they would have dragged him out by the collar, by now (which he honestly deserves).

His LinkedIn profile says that he leads "6" groups including bioinformatics. Wonder how large each one of those "six" groups are. Betting that some are 1 man teams!

Apparently, to this idiot Koch, bioinformatics is so trivial that even he can lead it. And he cannot even do 5th grade math to save his pathetic life! Or maybe that explains the quality of the group here. Yeah, that must be it.

Walter Koch is a completely predictable idiot. Letting go of anyone and everyone that brings up any issues to him is his way of "resolving" problems. The idiot "proudly" declared that he fired a number of people though his career at Roche. Turns out most were capable people!!

His complete lack in intelligence is mind-boggling! And to think that he is the VP of Research...is the Swiss management that disconnected from seeing something SO obvious?? How does this whole Roche thing work with pea-brained leaders like Koch??
