If anyone wants to make a lot more $$$ than a regular pharma rep, AND wants to know more about Limbrel and its origin, then contact me at onebeautifulview@gmail.com ....please reference this posting.

I will definitely keep this anonymous. I came from a pharmaceutical company with JnJ.

This company Primus and this product are both a total joke. "Regulated" by the FDA just means that there are laws around medical foods, but no approval process, so its all self regulated with safety and efficacy. No ins coverage, no solid placebo controlled long term data...just a nice idea.

I have a buddy who was working for them. Promised bonus, never paid because of crazy quotas. Said management is terrible and no one makes money (crazy promises at sign on, buy nothing ever panned out). Owners of company are creepy and run the joint like a mom and pop store, pinching every penny.

I have acute hepatitis, jaundice, VERY high liver function tests and VERY messed up blood work. After 3 months of never ending tests, CT scans, ultrasounds, MRI'S and blood draws it looks like it's all related to the Limbrel I was on. Wish I had never touched it!!

Read something beside the nonsense on tHis site to date re: Limbrel.

    New Patent Issued for Limbrel
New Composition Patent Provides Additional Protection for Safe Osteoarthritis Prescription Product

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - May 26, 2009 - Primus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. announces the issuance of a new composition of matter patent for Limbrel, the first prescription medical food product to safely meet the distinctive nutritional requirements of patients with osteoarthritis (OA). U.S. Patent #7,514,469 was recently issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Limbrel contains flavocoxid, a proprietary composition of natural flavonoid ingredients from the plant sources of Scutellaria baicalensis and Acacia catechu that meet the FDA strict safety standard of Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS). Under this new composition patent, allowable claims for Limbrel include "...improving mobility, range of motion, flexibility and physical function comprising... a mixture of an extract derived from Scutellaria enriched for Free-B-ring flavonoids containing baicalin and an extract derived from Acacia enriched for flavans containing catechin or epicatechin..."

"This new patent validates the uniqueness of Limbrel's proprietary combination of ingredients which was designed for osteoarthritis patients," said J.D. Weir, CEO of Primus. "This patent provides an additional layer of protection beyond the existing patents on the individual components. Now no other product can contain Limbrel's pharmaceutical grade ingredients, particularly at such a high purity and concentration. We are especially proud to have a strong licensing partner with a track record for developing and aggressively defending this kind of robust intellectual property."

Osteoarthritis is a disease that is caused, in part, by the metabolism of fatty acids, such as arachidonic acid through metabolic inflammatory processes involving cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) enzymes. The pathology and metabolic aspects of OA involving these enzymatic processes were published in the Journal of Knee Surgery, "Metabolic Pathogenesis of Osteoarthritis" (2006; 19(3):191-197).

Flavocoxid's composition is responsible for Limbrel's clinical efficacy through the metabolic dietary management of arachidonic acid enzymatic and oxidative pathways of osteoarthritis (OA). Over 100,000 patients have used Limbrel under the care of Rheumatologists, Orthopedic Surgeons and Pain Management physicians. Limbrel is only available by prescription and is dispensed at retail pharmacies nationwide.

It is only available by prescription.

What is the clinical thearputic difference between a sythetic supplement and medical food dietary supplement?

If Limbrel is safe and supposely doesn't have any drug intereactions, why require Rx?

I have been on Limbrel for two years now. It has completely changed my life. I was scheduled to have a spinal fusion and Limbrel was my last ditch effort. All I want to say is this...if you have OA, try it. I was pain free within a week. Now I can walk through the grocery store instead of riding in a motorized cart, I can hold my grandchildren and I can live a normal life again. Glorified vitamin? I don't care what it is, it works, I have no side effects and it is not addictive. My insurance BC/BS covers the cost. Please, don't write it off until you try it.

I have been taking Limbrel for 8 months, and it has been an absolute Godsend. Nothing else has improved my quality of life like this product. I am a 49 yr old female who has had many, many sports injuries, and basically my activities came to a standstill for 4 years after I tore my acetabular labrum. Between the tear and worn down cartilage in the hip joint, and surgery to debride the cartilage and shave the head and neck of the femur to improve FAI -- Femoral Acetabular Impoingement --I was in constant pain. I couldn't even sit for more than 15 minutes at a time without getting up to change my position and stretch. I tried acupuncture, massage, hot and cold packs, hottub therapy, chiropractic, nutritional supplements including MSM, glucosamine, chondroitin, fish oil, bromelain, mega doses of vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, multivitamins, acidophilus, etc. In spite of it all, before starting on Limbrel, I had shooting pains from my hip joint down through my leg throughout the day and night (woke up every night, sometimes crying form the severe pain), and very limited flexibility. The only sport I could manage was cycling (could only handle 5 - 10 miles after my cartilage tear and resulting surgery ocurred -- as compared with my competitive cycling days of 40 - 80 mile rides). After taking Limbrel for 8 months, I am able to sit for hours, ride my bike about 30 miles, swim, walk long distances, sleep through the night and my hip flexibility is back to levels pre-injury.

Initially, I took Limbrel for 2 months and felt a huge improvement: much less joint pain and increased flexibility. Then I stopped taking Limbrel for 2 months to see if that was the variable that improved my function and improved my pain level. My pain went right back to previous levels. My hip surgeon said that a lot of his patients experienced improvement using Limbrel because a lot of severe joint pain is a result of inflamation. ALSO, ironically, my migraines have cut back to almost nothing (used to have 6 - 8 each month -- now 1 or 2). Furthermore -- my immune system seems much stronger. As a kindergarten teacher (for 25 years) my students cough, sneeze, and barf all over me and I usually end up catching everything they get eventually. Not so this year. Maybe the decrease in migraines and increased immune strength is due to some other reaseon, but I haven't changed anything else in my life -- I think its the Limbrel.

To the anonymous person trashing Limbrel as a hoax and waste of money -- I wonder what research you base your "opinion" on. Obviously, you don't understand how many people rely on this to restore them to an active lifestyle and give tham relief. Okay -- I may not return to martial arts (have 2 black belts), and I may not ski bumps anymore -- and I won't ride my bicycle competitively anymore, but at 49, I'm glad to move, be active, and not suffer from constant pain. I am hoping to put off the recommended hip replacement as long as possible. With Limbrel I have hope. Previously I experienced hopeLESSness and I was extremely depressed. I actually came to understand how someone could take their own life due to chronic pain and suffering. I didn't plan to do so myself, but until you have experienced chronic pain for years, you cannot understand how wonderful it is to have the blanket of depression, pain, and hopelessness lift.

I offer only one success story. I am sure there are many others. I have had NO bad side effects or reactions at all from Limbrel. I take excellent care of myself, eat a primarily organic and balanced diet, and give thanks for small miracles. I am blessed. I just wish I could get the scrip for less. It is worth it to me to pay $107/month for Limbrel.
Ridiculous, but true. Insurance does not cover it. If I thought I could manage without it, I certainly would. I have better things to spend my money on. I do okay as a teacher, but I certainly don't have money to throw around. I sacrifice to find the extra money; my health, comfort, and happiness is worth it.
