Looks like the conversations around future US sales leaders and territory boundaries are beginning to take place. Buckle your seats belts, folks. This is going to be fun to watch over the next few months. They shared earlier that decisions have already been made and boundaries were drawn based on organizational leadership strengths, market dynamics, sales volume and historic growth. They (Z/B Corporate Sales) really don't know who owns the surgeon relationships nor have they had conversations with their sales leaders to understand potential impacts resulting from their decisions. While there's significant risk, those making these decisions will be assessing these impacts as discussions begin and decisions are announced. Mistakes will likely be made. Watch, listen and enjoy the show. Good luck to all of you and Happy Holidays.

Word on the street (which is all there is since the suits aint talking) is 20% headcount cut across both companies. Think about it - two companies about the same size that do the same thing merging into one company! And the EU may force them to sell parts off. 20% may be optimistic.
Seriously - if you have less than five years or your boss has stopped talking to you, you should think about your options. It will not be pretty despite all the BS propaganda they are pumping out in the newsletters and announcements that really don't say anything.

Zimmer loves to work as a skeleton crew anyway. Any additional Biomet people will be looked at as bloat; whether or not the better of the bloat will be kept or if there is a preference one way or another to Z or B people remains to be seen. Cuts though? Definitely. This merger is ALL about "redundancies and efficiencies" anyway. Don't forget that. For sure polish that resume regardless of what side of the fence you are on. You're doing your family a disservice if you don't at least take some proactive steps.

You guys are all idiots!!! The power is with the rep period. The reps who can control their business regardless of B or Z will stay, the tagalongs will be toast Z has proved a complete disregard for who is running the branch or agency look at south florida for zimmer

weak reps will not make it reps with marginal business will not make it
as santa for astroglide in your stocking this year it will help

Everyone should take a deep breath for a moment. Having been through the M/A wars many, many times in my career, and having been kept and having been tossed out, all I can tell you is I learned one very important lesson...

You have no control over what the company will do about anything, especially your job/distributorship. You may be told or led to believe you are safe and the next day you are gone. It happens.

So everyone put on your big boy pants and grow up. If you think you will lose your job, then do something proactive about it and start the process of finding something new now. If you think you are safe, then put your head down and continue to work hard and be thankful.

It's called life. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. It's your choice, not the company's on how you deal with it.

You may not like #70's comments....but it's true. Grow up and take charge of your career...don't let them make decisions that you should make for yourself.

If it's so "Captain Obvious" and so "Dad", that why don't you whiners out there heed the advice then "Dad" would not have to give the lecture he gave to you when you were 12 years old!

Here we are almost February. Zimmer bought Biomet, but Zimmer handed the keys to the car to Biomet management to run it. The next level (distributor level) will be interesting to see how many Zimmer distributors/territory managers are let go. This acquisition by Zimmer did not turn out as expected by the Zimmer folks. There is much surprise and maybe anger with the Zimmer sales force, depending who you talk to.

Maybe the best people rise to the top? For years we've seen nothing but complaints and disappointment about Zimmer management, from Zimmer employees Now is the perfect opportunity to change the culture that has defined Zimmer. No wonder Biomet people are getting many of the top positions.

The conjecture I hear is that the Biomet leadership did better in the transition because DD likes people that tell him what he wants to hear. The current (now former) Z leaders have been in their roles long enough that they can't polish the apple like someone new coming in can, so they're out.

How about the simple fact that Biomet has been growing and gaining market share! Plus the fact the people are happy hard working and positive! Everything coming out of Zimmer has been negative just look at the sales reps. Most I see are miserable because their douche bag distributors and "team leaders" are taking all the coin while their out working. Making the distributors and team leaders irrelevant to the surgeons! Not to mention the fact the surgeons hate Zimmer management especially the designing surgeons!
Things at Biomet are not all roser there are plenty of douche bags that need to go as well as distributors! However it does not surprise me that DD is looking to shake things up. It should not surprise anyone..especially after Zimmer spends 13.5 billion!

Could be that DD likes people who aren't afraid to speak up and say it like it is. People who know how to lead and create an environment that their teams want to be a part of. Leaders who have gotten their jobs because they earned it. Not because they kissed someone's ass. Biomet management, many who have been with the company a long time are the best in the business. Their teams respect them and work hard for them. I know it's a strange concept, right?

I've never met a Zimmer employee that has a positive word to say about the company. It's a miserable place to work. By strategically placing the Biomet leaders in the KEY positions it's the ONLY hope of positve change.

May be not relevant, but Biomet transferred their complete direct operation in Puerto Rico to their old EBI/Biomet Trauma local distributor... and not sure if Biomet/Zimmer Corporate is aware of this... The local Zimmer distributor might not like this move too much as they were counting on being considered to be the sole distributor in PR... although not a huge operation it brings home a few million.....
