Can someone shed some light on exactly what the gip professional health care rep carries?
Looking at a position in my town and am a bit unclear as to what is promoted. Viagra, eliquis, lyrica? Or all of them as outlined in the Pfizer gip strategy?

Thank you! I know, I should run far away. However just laid off from med device and this is right in my hood. Any info would be most appreciated!

Depends on the Cluster they're hiring for. If you get an interview, I'm sure they'll tell you what product mix they're hiring for.

exactly. Get an interview, sell yourself, rest should fall into place. Wayyyy too many dead beat marketing research trolls on here looking to figure out PFE SF structure and SOV. If your interviewing, be focused on your own merits. It shouldn't make much of a difference which products you carry. Those of us in the industry would never really ask that question prior to interviewing.

Are you really telling this person not to do any research on the company/division/products he or she may be promoting? Do you think that may be one of the questions that comes up in between the idiotic interview guide questions that are asked? Selling themselves and focusing on their strengths and merits are very important; however, any interview with ANY company/industry, usually has a question or two regarding research on the position available. They don't have to know everything-but a little research just shows they prepared.

Likely filled internally before it makes it out to the public websites.

disagree with you smarty pants. The best prep would be to be able to answer the basic questions on ALL possible promoted products for any cluster. Be best prepared for all. Things shift that much. Demonstrate to interviewer you can handle the background and basic concepts for all products in that division. Information is widely available and not that complex. Achieving such a knowledge base would best impress hiring manager.
News for you, those crawling CP that want to know specific position of products within clusters are most likely using an "approach" as they could very well be an interested candidate. Most often they are not. It's a common technique employed to dis-arm and cover-up. More often than not, the poster has a question they have to answer for a competitor clients gap analysis for there quickly approach monthly market monitoring report deadline. Competitors in all pharma markets pay firms to monitor competitive sales forces. Outside firms will claim anything to get what they need here, free and easy. They are fully aware no one would freely and willingly hand this information over to them and the competitor that hired them.

Thanks to all for your input. After years in Pharma and medical device, I suppose that I can be a bit picky when it comes to product lines or therapeutic areas and try to match them to my own background and interests – I was hoping to be able to narrow down the products a bit but I'm sure it's a great opportunity nonetheless. Thanks again!!

    A.)No.
B.)Better to research all possible products.
Could be, but best rep would know basics for all possible products in division Things change. Its a simple concept and simple prep really.
Research the position yes. Prep yes. These questions about specific Share of voice and product posiioning on CP are more often market research posers using interested candidates as their "approach" in order to gain free and easy information for their clients reports. Same if you doubt it.

Not completely buying what you're throwing down.
Smart money is on you being already employed with an outside "consulting firm." Must spend a lot of time telling yourself not to be a little nervous working in that loosely defined 5,000 shades of "grey" area. Claiming to be anything in order to get what your boss is demanding must be draining. Trying to stay under the radar must get old quickly, in addition to being completely self-limiting career-wise. Nice effort with the congeniality anyhow.

So smarty pants-it sounds like you are agreeing with my statement that he/she should research the company / division / products. How else would they answer questions on ALL promoted products for any cluster??? Your disagreeing with the post by agreeing with what it implies. As far as it being a consultant posting-probably true. They are all over the site.

nope. reads like the OP is asking for specifics, as in he/she wants CP world to "shed some light on exactly what the gip professional health care rep carries" ...this one is looking for specific products. They only one who would care which specific products is a paid-for consultant sneak. Best decision of any real Candidate would be to prep on the basics for ALL FOUR products as outlined, no questions asked. Simple and easy to do. PI's are easily acceptable on line and their is enough information out there to get the major sales points. Guarantee this original poster is looking for someone to do their work for them...It is insulting to all of us. They frequently use these boards because they need to know up to date sales force organization; specifically their client want to know exactly what products each cluster carries, plus specifics on the SOV for each product. Just too lazy, too cheap, too unqualified or all of the above to do the work required to get their job done. Why should CP folks feed them?

not true. No valid reason why a sincere candidate would need to narrow it down further than the four products as listed on PFE GIP site. Poster asked us to "shed some light on exactly what the gip professional health care rep carries"...all that information is out there... this poster was looking for more specifics. Hard to doubt it, they were looking for us to help them score some free easy points with their paying clients by answering their clients questions on Pfizer alignment of clusters and products SOV. It's insulting really.

After applying to a very vague job post for GIP Representative position I was quite surprised when my 1st contact was an invite to a face to face interview. The most shocking aspect was that it was the hiring manager that contacted me. Now either pure luck or a brief moment of genius Neuro-transmitter overload I asked " what products would I be representing?", and he explained. Now I will say in the face to face that the manager definitely had a list of HR provided guide questions to ask, but there was plenty of time to joust questions back and forth to see if we would be a good " working fit." Good luck, I would only briefly learn basic PI infomation on products, be more prepared to show your background and give specifics to some "canned questions". The manager handled all the interviewing - no recruiters, no robot outsource phone screen, and no flight to NY to meet a ZD so they can check the box.
