PC / Gen Meds reps are bottom
Of barrel. End of story. You can say it ain't so or that you are same level as a Specialty Rep but deep down you know it's not true. You are being delusional. Now go get me that Latte with extra cinnamon I asked you for!

I'm curious what mysterious skill set these posters are referencing. When I hired with Novartis there were over 25 clinical studies to learn for Diovan and in those days, you were in NJ and no one was giving away answers. It's a matter of training and developing your employee pool to have the skills (essentially more disease state and/or product knowledge) to move up into these "specialty" positions. In my experience, many of the PC reps worked twice as hard as specialty. They had to in order to gain access, etc. in a crowded PC marketplace where you have to differentiate yourself and establish relationships. Besides, our PC sales force has always called on specialists. And how many of us helped the specialty reps by introducing them to our specialists when they didn't have the relationships to get in, or invited them to our lunches? Specialty reps should admit, they are not "teaching" their specialists anything about disease state. It comes down to knowing your product and prescribing information better than the physician. Period. So yes, get off your high horse and think about whatever hard work, luck, hand up you got along the way and help someone else advance in this dog eat dog world. You'll be recognized much more for what you do for others rather than being "specialty."

Amen! How many opportunities have been available from the "robust" Novartis pipeline?

The mere fact that you have to ask shows that you are way over your head Mr PC Rep. Where are the bagels I asked you for?

Obviously, a rhetorical question. Why do you want to put someone down?

Uh no KAMS were already specialty reps so easy there pizza jockey. And skills supposedly? I would put any KAM up against any rep or abl for that matter on disease and product knowledge it wouldn't even be close.
