I appreciate all the comments coming to the defense of those of us who refuse to let the comments of the whiners and bitchers deter us. No company is perfect. Jeff Hawkins is not perfect. But if everyone goes out and does their job things would move in the right direction. Building relationship with customers is the cornerstone to success. If you cant believe in the company and yes, the value proposition, then how can you build those the relationships? Insincerity is the hardest trait to disguise because you are lying to yourself and the person you are talking to. Get on board or get gone. You want to work for a great company? Start with this one and build a great company. Don't expect management to do it for you

I think KCI WAS a great company and I think they can be again. There are many changes going on in healthcare, med reimbursements, and competition which makes the market tougher today. But I tend to agree, the two or three complainers on CP are not out of line for having an opinion, its just that they refuse to WORK toward a solution. Plan is harder to achieve but STILL most of the KCI reps I know make far and above what average people do sitting behind a desk. I just wish some of these guys would take a breath once in awhile and realize how good we've STILL got it regardless of the typical problems that exist in EVERY company I have ever worked for in my life.

Listen you two valued employees. It must be your first gig in medical device or you are fairly new to the industry. It's not greener on the other side and your exactly correct in stating that we should be fortunate that we are not behind a desk, making more than the average Joe and that healthcare is constantly changing.

The fact is that there are not just one or two individuals on CP complaining about KCI. There are many of us. If there were not so many then more of us would refer family members or friends to this fine establishment. If there were not so many than KCI would not be leading the CAFEPHARMA boards for most threads and views.

It is apparent that there is many upper/middle managers from KCI trolling this site and replying to many of the comments. This seems somewhat immature. Take a reality check, stop fighting what you know is a problem; employee morale. Be accountable for your team and stop trying to point to blame. Change begins within and is embraced. Change does not occur by threats. Good Leaders lead by example and for the past 3 years I believe that's what is significantly lacking here at KCI.

    original poster here
fact is, your assumption about experience is completely wrong. Decades in the medical device field and I'm with KCI because I WANT to be. So thanks for making my point. I know from experience exactly what I'm talking about KCI and the device field

Dude you should have quit while you were ahead. Your stirring first post had me ready to take on the world. I swear I could hear the theme from Rocky as I read your words. I think your exact words were thanks to all of us who work hard. Riviting! Then I see you checked back in at 1 pm no doubt eagerly wanting to read all the atta boy responses you so desperately want and need. How many points do you get for being on this site at 1 in the afternoon? Please write more about hard work and how insincerity is hard to disguise.

KCI could be a great company??? Yes it could be but the problem is the atmosphere is sad. And yes we want to blame management but the bottom line is APEX spent over 6 billion for a company that will NEVER see that ROI even if we gained 95% marketshare again the attrition of competitive bidding and acute competition would prevent that. So the KCI management sells APEX on buying additional companies to "complete the wound care portfolio". At some point Apex/The Grim Reaper is going to come looking for their return and will not get it. So that is why management walks on egg shells and loses focus so often. We were a "patient first" organization for many years and now we are a "return on investment" company. It is simply a fact that this company will see the layoffs, pressure, and workplace hell to follow.

LOL.... I remember KCI did that with Prevena about 3 years ago. Sent threating letters to people who were quite short of their Prevena quota or had not even sold a Prevena in any of their accounts. They had 30 days to sell Prevena or they were put on a PIP. I was selling more Prevena than my Prevena Specialist and I was given a letter. This is a newer smarter management team. They would never do something like that.

Must be nice to have leadership realize you can work in a blizzard. My part of the country was expected to work when it came through here.

Trust me. I am tired of this micromanagement. My manager just called and asked why I am not in at least the closest OR right now. We got 17" of snow and I am driving a small economic car because of the new car allowance. I told him that I just got done shoveling and plan on heading out once the roads are cleared. This is the last blow. I wish these robots would tell the RVPS to go scratch. Better yet, I wish the RVPs would strap a set on and tell upper management to cut the bullshit.

Here's the deal. We just had our NSM so mostof our top producers realize that they missed out on a lot of calls and would be more than ready to make up for the time lost. The hospital staff does not call in sick because of weather so why would you. Patients need our products and you are the guidance for their clinical success. For those of you that made it happen, you will see the results in your #'s. For those of you in the Norheast that let the snow keep you from making a difference in peoples lives, you seriously need to look in the mirror and really evaluate if you have what it takes to be with KCI, much less Medical sales. We hada rep in Atlanta that did not let the ice stop them from being out there even in the worst conditions. If you truly want to make KCI the company it can be step up, stop bitching and do everything you can to make a patient's life better...those who cant, get out, we simply do not have the time to waste. At the end of 2014, those that work at KCI will again be known as the best Med Reps in the industry.

Big news flash: VAC & Prevena application- not life or death!!!! Reps SHOULD NOT be out driving in a blizzard "pretending" they are saving lives. Emergency ABTHera placements for new user would be the ONLY reason a rep should be out driving. You should be able to walk someone through a VAC dressing application over the phone. Been doing this a long time people...we are not rocket scientists. Pretty sure KCI is not going to pay for your hospital bill when you're injured or your bill to repair your car damage. My spouse is a police captain and they are pleading with people to STAY OFF THE ROAD. YOU ARE NOT DOCTORS PEOPLE...IT'S NOT TIME TO AMPUTATE THE FOOT!!!!!!!!!!! Idiots.

Listen, I will look in the mirror but I also ask the management to look in the mirror. The problem is that this management does understand how to communicate and treat people. They fear for their job and threaten the tmv's, tsv's, and tcv's to the point we all can't stand working here. Trust me I love what I do. I have been told that I do it well many times but then in the same sentence I also pretty much told that I suck and should be doing this or that. BTW is the N Alanta TMV position where the rep was force to leave still open? You look in the mirror I am quite sure that you do not enjoy your job as much as you think MS. DMS.
