LERS No More

    LER's were nothing more than the RD's asskissers and mostly folks who could not sell so they were promoted for modeling the NCM, special worthless projects, job sharing and being the best 'stay at home' mom in the company! When you promote someone in a sales organization for some reason other than consistent sales then you've screwed the pooch! Now everyone else sees that you don't have to sell to get the promotion and title and they start looking for a niche that will get them noticed 'the hell with selling I just need to be noticed by the RD' mentality goes a long way to destroying a salesforce! Merck and its managers have been specialists at doing this for years...managers who could not sell were somewhat jealous of the reps that consistently made the numbers so they sought to reward those who did other things! How many times was the VP awards given to someone other than the best salesman in the district or region!
    Asskissing became the subspecialty of selling at Merck! Now we've come full circle because the company has established a self fulfilling policy " Obviously the Best of the best...LER's can't sell so we don't need all these salespeople anymore...they're not selling much anyway so lets cut the salesforce some more". Very few things in life that are not forced on you are sold to you without someone in charge of selling them! Along the road of life there are many outhouses....if you're full of shit, your friends will notice all along the way!

    No longer with the company-and glad to be gone but the LER's from Utah that I knew were the worst bunch of ass-kissers ever created. None of them ever really excelled at selling, but they were good at running reports and maybe grabbing some ass with their CTL! And running meetings and piss-ant teleconferences. Glad to see things are evening out.

    Glad the LEtaRs are gone, most given the title for being a rep in the same area forever. Some act like ctls and host teleconferences and dish out Learning Network courses and more. Look around, many non LERs have more skills and awards than the tards. Thanks for demoting these pricks and for also cutting their bonus. Cant wait until 1s when they get the rebanded pay cut. Ah yes, make 120k now you will get 90k in a few months, take it or leave on your own.

    The point of the LER was to add value to your resume and opportunity to gain skill and advance. Merck obviously doesn't find value in motivating their reps or keeping them long term. We are all disposable with no where to go within a Merck. That's the message just sent- no opportunity, no need for valuing people, no job security. It's all about quarterly income

    Why would anyone want to go into pharma after being let go I will never understand. Reinvent yourself and venture into another industry where You will have FUN and not all of this aggravation and responsibility.

    It's not just pharma anymore. The companies that don't outsource don't survive. Tax laws have a lot to do with it. The money overseas does not come back.

    What about me? I'm Merck's only S15 rep. I've kept my numbers up and have reduced my hours per week down to an average of less than ten. Keep in mind I'm doing this without working on Fridays. I have not worked a Friday in well over two years.

    when the hell is somebody going consider Adam? that guy has had his chance to turn this company around and if his only answer is to continue to cut the sales force….. when is someone going to look at the leadership level….hell, I don't even think our field leaders have faith in this guy. he has had several years to show real leadership and he has failed on all counts…it starts at the top. he has only made every employee, whether in UG, WHS or the field completely unengaged… sorry but its true

    Time to make them work like everyone else! In one region every LER except one were consummate ass kissers that had never really sold without having special cuts in objective or working special projects! All of them were riding the pony out to pasture..stay at home moms, job shares (now that's real commitment) and folks with special passion for certain things! Many of these were picked using Schering managers who were brand new and just rubber stamped what the RD wanted! These were drinking and partying buddies and a few were even promoted over qualified reps to manager positions and most had never made numbers without help! When this company gets back to selling then we'll learn who is a rep and who is a luncheon queen! Just remember that the only reason we had 8 -10 reps in an area is that 6 were stay at home moms, building a family on Merck, taking the kids to school in the morning and picking them up at 3...a few breakfasts and lunches and you're in like flint with a drug like Pepcid, Singulair, Fosamax, Zocor or Januvia! Many of these who've been here 6-10 years have never had to sell under real competition! Merck will now see how good they are when the competition gets tough! At some point 'my kids are sick', 'I have a funeral', 'I just don't feel good', 'husbands gone on a business trip', or other lame excuses will not make the grade! Be Well!

    Not true. We get higher scary and bonus plus full leather and remote starters in our cars in oncology.

    So mgams really wear undies under their bathrobes, good to know. How many times will you leave the house for work this week? How many customers will you see in person? That is what we thought. Mscams always say "I spoke with Sue Smith at the account and we are trying to get a meeting set up to discuss access and how we can partner together". Repeat this year after year, sound familiar folks? We could hire a telemarketer to do this or better yet, hire Susie Smith for half the cost of the mgams. Aka might get a meeting sometime (mgam). Newsflash, a majority will be external. Happy holidaze scams!
