The LTC environment is completely different than the retail world. In LTC, you have to convince multiple parties to prescribe Nuedexta. That's not the hard part. The hard part is the follow through. You have to literally have such great relationships with the DON's, unit managers, etc... They will be the ones to contact you when a prior auth comes through. You cannot rely on the medical directors or their staff to know how to get the drug approved. The pharmacy is mostly of no help either. You sometimes have to literally be standing there to make sure the order gets written and pulled through. You cannot effectively manage more than 10 homes at a time. If you get those 10 writing, your hands will be full just chasing the prior auths.

    I hope this helps!

Looking at an opportunity with Avanir. I understand the challenges many of you have described on many threads. Apart from LTC, are you able to call on anethesiologists, psychiatrists, neurologists and other practitioners to generate sales increase and are you compensated? In other words does your current indication limit a type of practitioners you can call on?

Ltc only gets credit for scripts going through long term care pharmacies (different than cvs, walgreens, etc). If you are on the retail side, you can call in the docs you mentioned, but will not get credit for pain management, anesthesiologists, child psychs, etc (bc the assumption is in these settings the script would be written for an off label indication).

You are lucky if you receive credit for 1/3 of the scripts. You can do the best in-service, follow up with all the appropriate people and finally see that the residents are taking Nuedexta and still not receive the credit. When you give your RBM all the tools needed to argue your case they do nothing and try to avoid the topic.

It is the worst company in the industry. Unless you are unemployed for a year or more, run. Run as fast as you can. The lies start from above and trickle down.

I will agree with you about the lack scripts showing up. No doubt about that! As for the worst in the industry, not so much. It really depends on if your manager will go to bat for you. If you can show proof that orders/scripts aren't showing up, they can open a case with IMS. Whether or not it will work is a different story. Sometimes it does, sometimes not.

Managers usually won't go to bat, they don't want to upset the apple cart. DP was our manager, and she would rather give MM a shoulder rub, than look out for anyone missing out on bonus $$$ due to unreported scripts.
