Why Chicago? It sucks

I may spend a week in Gary, Indiana prior to the big meeting, so that Chicago will seem nice by comparison.

 

ha, it's cheap, crime ridden, and stinks.............other companies go to crlando, san fran, Miami, etc.

 

It is a business meeting, not a vacation!

 

We have plenty of real things to bitch about, this isnt one of them and makes us look like babies. I plan to check out the Shedd Aquarium or Field museum Monday afternoon and make the best of it. Am admittedly curious to see if we are going to hear any "mea culpas" from management, and what the remedies might be. Considering our lousy track record i cant be too optimistic, but hope for the best.

 

to # 3 : Is it a crime to mix business and pleasure ? Remember, many of these kids will probably never get to see much of the USA on their own dollar. In years past, I have been to nice areas for meetings and believe me....it adds a bit more zest and vitality to all concerned.

Chicago has some of the best restaurants, hotels and blues/singing clubs in the country...Not to mention incredible sports venues in all sports..Get your hillbilly head out of your ass...sounds like you need laid..

Sure is a coincidence that during obama's administration and the DOJ's wonderful PF plan more and more meetings are in the murder captital of the US. Of course, the selection has nothing to do with the fact that Chicago is a world class city, with great entertainment, museums, fine restaurants, etc., as well as the fact it is located in the central part of the US, making it equally accessible to people from across the country.


By the way, the crime is like other major cities (centered around the high poverty neighborhoods). Unless you plan on hanging out in the 'hood, I don't think you will have much of a problem. Just make sure mommy packs your yellow boots and jacket I n case it happens to rain.

Chicago only has about 500 homicides a year, and very few of those occur on Michigan Avenue.
