Whilst the tone is mean spirited these are important questions that need to be discussed in an open objective matter. Im troubled that Sean hasnt brought a drug to market and how he could have been the head of regsafety with no experience. No wonder why that department is screwed up. If he was told by Pazdur to shut up during the Vectibix label negotiation then it makes sense that dmab would get hozed because the FDA doesnt trust us at all.

I don't think it matters if he takes his reports on vacations as long as the company isn't paying for them. As for hiring Paul because he was friends with Militich in medical school that is completely lame. I am shocked that no due diligence was done by the company prior to his secret interviews. Explains why they were so top secret. Everyone outside of the company knows about the failed safety department at Lilly.

T'is time we don't have the regulatory head job be on the job training for people who don't work out in clinical. There are good regsafety people out there. The problem with having weak tops is that they know only weak incompetent staff and then the cascade begins and the department becomes full of levels of ED morons reporting to ED morons.

I think Sean needs to describe his credentials in the next allstaff so that the we and the street have confidence that he is capable of leading and that he has the experience bringing drugs to market required of a GDL not to mention CMO!

To those who keep bashing, lets stay with facts. To those who keep pumping the koolaid get back to work. Let's vet this out

    how many studies designed?

    how many advisory committee presentations?
    how many development programs led?

Stop the madness! This thread is boring and untrue. You should apply for a senior position in the company if you think you are qualified. It might be difficult to move from a senior associate to a SVP level. Good luck!

whats the big deal with a few simple questions?

we want credible transparent leadership - have we got it?

Roger's big development achievement was vioxx in which sean was an extra.

While many find his yapping-condescending & insecure style somewhat dispiriting, there's no evidence of ineptitude. More likely the unfortunate personality trait is what's behind this thread.

surely our CMO should have clearcut qualifications that dramatically surpass "no evidence of ineptitude"

Regulator ineptitude would be being told to shut up by Pazdur during the Vectibix filing.
Managerial ineptitude would be microing your reports by making them take vacation with you.
Development ineptitude would be letting Paul do an endaround and report to Roger so that Paul could run amuck.
Yeah, experience counts. No advisor committee presentations or leading filings are gaping holes in the resume. Being from Merck doesn't mean qualified. The problem isn't the personalities for or against Sean, the problem is the pyramid of incompetence. If you are incompetent, then you can only hire people more incompetent who can only hire even more incompetent. Sean begets Paul begets Larry. Any questions. Lets refrain from shooting the messenger

pity that funny story detailing the consequences of his flawed decisions was taken down.

if he had insight he would never have taken the regulatory position and would have told Roger that he needed to have a proper head of regulatory.

was Sean the best candidate Roger could have hired for CMO?

if yes, what precise qualifications made him the best candidate for the job?

If not, why was he hired for the role?

    simple innocent questions!

The clinical problem is worse than the safety problem. Sean hasn't done an advisory committee presentation (thank god, could you imagine his stuttering?). sean hasn't brought a drug to market. why do you think all his reports have no experience either? All of his VPs have only worked at Amgen. Most with 5 years of Amgen experience. At least all of the EDs in safety have done safety elsewhere.

Sean's qualifications for regulatory is his ability to antagonize Pazdur. Being told to shut and take or leave the Vectibix label is amazing. Had an ED in regulatory been told that, he'd be fired. But a Merckie it's more than fine. It's a promotion.

Simple questions have simple answers. They might not make sense but that's Amgen
