If you don't trust leadership then the organization crumbles. Some people are good leaders and some are just simply authoritarians. Great speech that makes complete sense.

GSK has Managers not Leaders. But this appears to be typical of today's corporate environment!

What's the difference? Simple, Managers are standing off on the sideline checking boxes and chasing metrics. Leaders are out in front of subordinates building a path to success, solving problems and motivating those who would follow. They are the example for technical and tacticle proficiency. They talk the talk and walk the walk. By that very definition GSK managers will never be leaders because they have never performed at the field level in the present "patient First" environment.

In GSK, they have decided to call a lot of people leaders - first line leaders, second line leaders, etc etc. we have yet to see in this organization leaders that truly make sacrifices so that people will gain. the morale is low because those who are in positions of authority are not true leaders and will only look out for themselves and protect their positions.

Yes. GSK is the joke of the industry. Leaderless ship without a rudder. Other companies are literally laughing at our comp plan and culture. People are starting to leave in droves. Get out now before you stay too long to the point where other companies start questioning why you stayed at such a dysfunctional company for so long. This place is quickly becoming a resume killer. My new job is trying to get the heck outta here before it's too late.

"No matter what may be the ability of the officer, if he loses the confidence of his troops, disaster must sooner or later follow."
Robert E. Lee in a letter to Jefferson Davis, 8 Aug 1863
GSK, you've lost our confidence primarily due to your lack of leadership, inability to care for your people and unadulterated arrogance. This video says EVERYTHING about what's wrong with our company culture!

What a powerful message that is so appropriate for our situation. Thank you for sharing this and I am going to pull out and update my resume tonight so that maybe I can find a company like the ones he spoke of.

"When we don't trust our leaders we have to spend time and energy protecting ourselves from each other" is exactly what people at this company are doing.

GSK has not a leader amongst them. Not at an executive level. Not at a Regional level. Not at aField level. They are managers...yet they are self-proclaimed as the "Leadership Team". They are a joke! Look where we are? China, the US CIA, current product launches. All brought to you by an arrogant "management team".

    GKS management position = arrogance
GSK management position + British = more arrogance
GSK management position + British + knighthood = incredibly stupid arrogance

This is so enlightening. I wish someone would lead us out of the way things have been the last 5 years. Sadly no true leaders in this company.

It's as if this talk was designed specifically for our situation. Leading by fear has produced the horrible unproductive environment we have now.

Do you think Simon Sinek forgot to mention how good (GSK leaders only) pay people more or less money based on skin color? Where in the leaders manual does it say to discriminate against people?

Good OP and on point. What should be done to correct the problem? Too many Leaders in this organization. A result of the only way to a promotion in the field....ELD program. No wonder there is confusion and lack of focus.
Be a good leader and we will follow

Don't we all wish we could work in a safe environment? After watching this video, you realize just how bad the GSK environment is. You thought it was bad, but it's worse.

Keep antagonizing the reps you idiot. It's working so well. Stock price at 3 year lows. Hit 46 this week and all you can say is "waaah" . Won't be long before you and the rest of the leadership team are fired and looking for jobs at McDonalds. Keep it up with the wisecracks. All you do is alienate people even more which results in them caring less and selling nothing.

Instead of leading you pull this kind of amateurish crap. What an embarrassment you are. I can't believe how badly this company is unravelling. It's beyond words trying to describe how dysfunctional this place has become.
