Your company recognizes full well that they have patients and clinicians locked into a hold with this drug, so they are squeezing every drop of $ they can out of third party payors. This is reprehensible behavior and is exactly the reason there is so much regulation in PhARMA! When companies behave like this we all pay for it industrywide! You guys need to change your greedy hog mentality before the government DOES step in and do it for you - and for all of us! I'm ashamed to be in PhARMA!

Congress is stepping in and will slaughter these fat pigs! "Witness a sternly written letter, authored with fellow Democrats Frank Pallone Jr. of New Jersey, and Diana DeGette of Colorado, to Gilead Sciences GILD -2.75%’ Chairman and Chief Executive John Milligan asking how it can possibly be that Gilead’s breakthrough new drug for the liver virus hepatitis C, Sovaldi, can cost $84,000 per course."

Because it cost over 11 billion to bring the a cure to a devastating disease! Your right we should let the democrats take over medicine that's working out fantastic so far.

When Genentech give free peg and ribavirin to patients needing free care while Gilead tells them to go apply on the healthcare exchange, they've got their priorities all wrong. At $1000 a pill, it better pay for the free care that you should be providing. So glad I steered clear of this mess

This reflects overall healthcare cost, not a greedy company. Research, FDA....what it takes to get drug to market. On top of all this, it is within market value but costs a premium as all best in class products do.

Stop crying cost and celebrate a cure!

Gilead didn't even invent their drug - - - slimy pigs!

Roche (OTCQX:RHHBY) has argued that it had partnership with Pharmasset since 2004 and that gives it an exclusive license to the drug. Gilead rejected the argument by pointing out that the partnership has ended long before Gilead's acquisition of Pharmasset.

Abbvie (ABBV) has filed suit against Gilead in February in a Delaware court for infringement of its patent Nos. 8,466,159 ("Methods for Treating HCV," issued in June, 2013) and 8,492,386 (same title, issued in July, 2013) based on Gilead's anticipated manufacture and sale of its combination therapy of Sovaldi and ledipasvir.

Merck (MRK) last summer contacted Gilead by phone calls and email and asked for a 10 percent royalty, maintaining that the drug infringes on its patent Nos. 71,905,499 and 8,481,712, a claim that Gilead considers a threat to the company.

YES THEY DID! Gilead set off a whiplash against the entire sector as third party payers pushed back on an $84,000 treatment price. As if we aren't a big enough target. Fuckers.

I went to CVS and they don't have it on the shelf - - - pharmacist said it was too expensive and that she would have to contact her HQ!
