The famous "Wood U" was created by one of the finest Pfizer Labs Salesmen of all time...Bill Williams from Dothan, Alabama. CW was the baby DM who never was an ARM and because he was a truly gifted brown noser, became the youngest VP in Pfizer history. If you read all the truly horrible manager behavior posted on this forum, CW may not have invented them...but he perfected them.

The animal health launch of Revolution was a huge blunder.

He kept his head down, while all the other SVPs crashed and burned for many reasons including: a ton of HR issues with Regional Managers, acceptance of off-label promotion of Bextra, gross ineptitude, and wrong political alignment. The guy that most agreed should have been our leader came over from the PD acquisition, and ya KNOW we can't have a non legacy Pfizer guy running the show, so he was cast down, too. That only left one guy standing.

We are paying the price for that wrong decision, and have been for almost a decade.

partially correct, he has just kept himself clean and has done absolutely nothing to lead. The talented ones self-imploded or were in the wrong places when the Europeans took over, and mostly recent he won because his competitor was just plain incompetent and blithering idiot. He's only one of those.

As for a PD guy should have taken over, can't agree totslly as some of the shit he rolled out, such as telling people to not think just do as your told is not what was needed.

The truest mistakes were made when Karen Katen was passed over for McKinnell, Mosebrook was brought in as VP od Sales and he brought a lack of substance, and soon we went from a sales driven organization to a marketing organization which has been a death knell since.

There's just no soul left, its all financial manipulation. Look at the numbers. Revenue growth is non-existent.

    and the band plays on.....

This is a vet here and everything listed here is spot on. Truth is PFE did well because the products in the late 90 and early to mid 2000's were superior products. A monkey could have sold them well. The problem is that the PFE leadership started to believe their own press. Once the dog products hit, no one could sell them.

I used to think the leadership knew what they were doing but quickly learned they are no smarter than anyone else. They just kissed ass to get there. This is the entire industry as well.

That is the story of most big corporations but pharma seems to have these types in droves. People paid millions who basically run companies into the ground and really have no clue about anything, not R&D, not protocols, not economics, not healthcare, not big business or running a sales organization (Oh, I know!), but they sure think they know all about law. So, how did it SLIP by these geniuses that stockholders would owe if the deal with AZ goes through?

Putting out Toviaz knowing it had four times the side effect profile of Detrol LA but only marginally more effective. So we walked away from Detrol LA while we were selling 600Million dollars of Detrol LA and tried to Sell Toviaz. When Toviaz jumped to 25Million (barely covering the field force that was selling it) Detrol LA lost 100 Million. When Pfizer realized what they had done they started bulk shipping Urologist Detrol LA to try and reverse direction.

Not saying the PD guy should have taken over, just that many on the floors higher than 16 at HQ thought that he was the most qualified one WITH CLEANEST RECORD. Little guy from Deep South was probably more qualified and was legacy R-gene, but those darned HR issues…..

    Agree on all else.

Going to the exubra launch in San Fran only to be told not to sell/launch the drug... It's not ready... We can't keep up with the manufacturing demand...

Once we did launch it was off the market soon after because of no demand...

    Epic fail!

late 2012 when they went from State Directors to having RVP's and RM's instead

Our customer base is shrinking and our revenue is drying up. Lets go to 2 levels of bureaucracy!!!! That's the answer!!! We will have to cut the bonus pool for the reps and have fewer RSU's and stock options to give out to the reps too to help fund this additional layer, but who cares?
