    Core messaging is the reason that most doctors don't like to see reps! Give the reps disease training and make them experts to the doctors who don't have time to read or research anymore and you'll have the customer seeing Merck reps as a partner and a real solution specialist instead of some skirt with a glossy detail piece. Most of our customers know so little about CV medicine except how to diagnose and treat to some degree that we could blow them away and have them eating out of our hand with minimal training but our lawyers will not let a rep get in a real discussion with a customer!

    +1 This is so true. MRK and ALL pharma companies need to wake the hell up!

    And I'm sure they want to learn about medicine from their Merck rep, the same worthless fool who schlepped in the Panera.

    Very good point! You walk a line when you talk to docs....reps need to remember they are NOT doctors.

    Some have a better understanding, but still you are not a doc. Learn the information, provide what information we're provided. Know your place.

    Very interesting, the level of analysis of some of the posters here greatly exceeds anything I've seen from management.
