There are a bunch of companies that market/sell mesh. Gore is just one of them. Surgeons who use Gore mesh are often married to the material. Not necessarily seeing it more now vs previously. Mesh is a dog eat dog space. Loyalty for use is not common and you usually need to be in the cases to assure your product is used. Covidien is rumored to be looking to sell off its mesh business. The "hernia" division was seperated out 18 months or so ago to facilitate the possible sale.
