Apparently Dave is even forcing 2 different wireless systems, again giving business to his old pals. What a dummy!

But everything was moved to philly and now the cloud. It cant be that old.

That cant be right. We completely exited IBM who had our entire estate.

It was in the other 130+ locations across the globe that have infrastructure installed. When we exited from IBM we only migrated the equipment that was installed in Kista, Southbury and Singapore - all the equipment in other locations stayed as is.

 

Correct there are 100's of applications supported with infrastructure not based with IBM/PDC's e.g. LDC's in Sweden, UK, and every other site. Not sure of the % splits but the myth that Emerald gave us brand spanking new top and tail kit is just that - a myth

 

We migrated about 4000 servers out of IBM DCs. Most were replaced by new equipment, some so as to not cause too much work on the app side were replaced by refurbished older equipment. Our total server estate is in the region of 12-13K. So about 30% was refreshed with new equipment. Not the 100% that big Dave seems to think were done. Cali Dave won't invest in refreshing kit so many apps are doomed to running on equipment that is in its double digits of years old!

Has anyone heard about the next re-org? Apparently, all managers must have 8 direct reports in order to flatten the IT organization some more.

 

Now thats a hoot!!! Our awesome leadership didnt think of this last time?? It sure was a hot topic at the lower levels. We had several client DIRECTORS with no direct reports. What were thet directing besides their own sucking up?
