Just a distraction and part of the strategy to hold down the ultimate purchase price. Do you think they would be dumb enough now to show their cards? This is the way the acquisition dance is done. Keep them guessing until the end.

Remember the scene in Forrest Gump@ the end? The feather in the wind, slowly being carried off. That feather is Phizer. In other words, Both entities had their chance. But that feather is long gone, my friends. The original post is a great and probably correct opinion!

Not neccessarily for or against, but next time just think the opposite of what you believe may happen. IE most thought a acquisition would happen in May- at least those reps who thought being "bought out " equates to them being bought out as well ,leave AZ with a few bucks. Suckers!

^^its called business.....never take the price when you know you can get more the next round. Pfizer isn't going to just walk away as much as some want to believe.

Deal makes no sense as a shareholder, the new company is losing nearly 30 Billion$ in revenue due to patent expiration, not gonna happen.

It would take a lot of chutzpah for them to come after us again. One thing is for sure - Pascal Soriot is a mensch!

The article said they were tired of being "Held hostage by AstraZeneca over Price". Point made: they were only interested if they could steal AZ, they have moved on.

Held hostage over what could eventually become a hostile takeover? Interesting perspective to say the least. I guess Pfizer doesn't see itself as the predator.

More like AstraZeneca didn't agree on value and Pfizer simply wouldn't pony up the dough.

Exactly and in the past the deals were all cash offers meaning the shareholders took their 50-60% gains and sailed off into the sunset. This time they want a mainly stock deal and the stock in the resulting company is not going to be growing for a long long long time..
