That specific example was a case of selling on features and benefits versus price. We could begin the discussion on the causality of the loss of the largest accounts within certain states and how small instances like the case mentioned can be a window of opportunity to gain regain business in those lost accounts.

To gain or regain that is the question.

...and those built in friends do it to keep their jobs. She is a strange person, but I just smile and be nice and try to get away as quick as possible. Thankfully I do not have to interact with her much at all.

All I have to say is WOW! I left this company, run by incompetant morons, a few months ago and haven't looked back until now. My customers questioned my move going to Applied from the beginning and were hesitant to do business with me because of the bad reputation they have. I took their advice and left after a yr and came on here to see if anything has changed and doesn't appear so. Almost everyone I encountered at this dump was dumber than the last; from the CEO, to senior mgmt, to my ZM, to my DM, to my product specialist. The entire organization is bad news at every level and I'm glad to see it's still the same idiots running the asylum!

I remember reading a post a few weeks ago on here referring to the fact that in order to be successful in any business, you have to be willing to change. Since Applied Medical has had the same corporate mantra for over 20 yrs, they will inevitably fail. Don't believe me? Watch......I look forward to referencing this post 5 or 7 yrs from now.

    Here is my assessment:
Financials: compensation is low, commission potential is overstated and nearly impossible to max out, comp plan changes often..to minimize the amount the company has to actually pay out.

Career Path: there is potential to move around within the company, that is of course if you can stick it out through numerous quarters and years of the comp plans. Here is the most frustrating thing, you WILL NOT be coached to be a better sales person as mgmt doesn't have the capacity or willingness to do so. This is what is sad because most reps are young and all they get from mgmt is threats and sleepless nights waiting for the ax to drop on your head if one of your hospitals pulls contract on you, etc. There is ZERO leadership here and No positive reinforcement is ever given to individuals or the team, ever

Culture: its simply an odd company, never seen anything like it. Simple things are made extremely complicated and those who work here understand what I mean. Your expense reports are nickel and dimed so extremely you either rip your hair out in frustration or just have to laugh. Oh and the "company match 401k"!! Oh this is a good one, they claim they offer 401k match but when you read the fine print, here is what it really is: Applied Medical will match 25cents to your dollar..but wait it gets better. Thats 25cents to your $1 of your annual salary..UP TO 2%!!! So for the sake of easy numbers, lets say you make 50k, 2% is $1000. So Applied Medical matches 25cents on that $1000. So annually Applied Medical contributes a grand total of $250 to your 401k!!!! Haha, great company match.

Products: Trocars are trocars, enough said. The Gel platforms are actually pretty good. 5mm Clip still doesn't work properly and shouldn't be being used in surgery yet its pushed hard by mgmt. Alexis wound protectors, like the Gel line is also a bright spot.

Pipeline: Energy! Haha. Who knows if this ever launches in the US (been supposedly coming out for years) but is still supposed to be the next "big" product. This is going to be so interesting when it happens because of many reasons. #1) Mgmt thinks they are going to hand off an energy platform to those who've never sold energy before and this is sad, they'll be setup for failure 99/100 times. #2) they will sell soley on price with a me too platform (i.e. similar to Ligasure). Yet mgmt thinks existing contracts and purchased inventory of generators, etc won't be an issue. Huge huge mistake #3) among all mgmt team at applied across multiple divisions, maybe 5% has experience of their own selling energy.

Very accurate analysis of Applied. I agree strongly.

What's needed is a buy-out by a mega-company with professional management. Said and his family can get their millions from it and bow out, and Stanley, Grosshans and Donohue can cash in their options and live on an island somewhere together.

Spot on! Those 3 bumbling idiots can all jerk each other off and the manager from New York with the last name Mahon will be there to swallow! Cheers!

One correction to the island, send Said and family too, maybe they can marry the daughter off to one of the idiots.

With Voyant being released is there going to be an argument that energy has become a commodity?

By reading some of these posts, I guess Im not alone! But I don't believe in bashing just for the sake of bashing. At this point Im just so frustrated. Never seen such low morale. commission potential has turned out false. You aren't allowed to discuss your quarterly commission to review it! A statement comes, end of story. No rebuttal. THAT is unheard of

Maybe some reps don't work hard, but I do (stupid me I guess). Newsflash Applied: reps would WANT to bust their butt for you if you are fair to them. But it's not the case here. Reps have no voice within the company. You're not valued. Actions speak louder than words (lies). You feel like you'll be stabbed in the back at any time. Seen too many good people screwed over and leave. This is my first and last post here. Glad to have had a forum here to finally get thoughts out

The topic of reprocessing is avoidable with Applied trocars because the cannulas are inexpensive to purchase separately with the ability to use the same obturator making it an an easy way to save an account or win new accounts over because you don't compromise the seal or lubricant with the questionable practice of reprocessing.

Can the case be made for Applied energy with this abstract?
