Even 10 years ago, an MBA was like getting a college degree.....nothing special, nothing more.

Layoffs are always a possibility. And...probably will happen in a couple of years. Three new products to launch with Breo, Anoro, and Tanzeum. Even if all are dogs, the company has to at least "try" to promote them for at least a year. Keep in mind all you geniuses out there, GSK is a global organization. Do you think they will just close shop and stop doing business? Do you really think that GSK would have 1 rep per state? (an asinine suggestion...MBA my ass). If armageddon is really upon us, you would have Sector VPs, Regional Directors, TSMs, and reps completely gone. That would mean at least a 50% cut in the marketing departments. It's not going to happen. GSK will co-promote, merge, or in-liscense. Layoffs? Probably. But not until late 2015 or mid 2016. A lot can happen in a year. Did any of you prognosticators see the Novartis deal? Relax. Work hard and hop for the best.

The Corporate Integrity Agreement sealed our fate. Would be impossible for any company to operate under one. GSK, through asset selloffs, is making itself more attractive to buyers. Certainly not the first time this has happened. BW did the same thing before Glaxo bought them.

You..us.. the entire sales organization. This is pharma. About every two and half years there is a re-org. every 5 to 7 years there are layoffs. It's been this way since the late 90's. Welcome aboard the GSK Roller Coaster. Up, down, side ways. That's the way we roll. Oh, and never tell the truth. They will ask for for honest feedback but they really don't want it. Just lie and say everything is great! Be happy to have a job but know that you/we are one layoff away..and they happen like clockwork. Have a nice day!

Not a troll but my spouse works on contract for GSK on the government side. They were just told there will be cuts on the government/lobbying side of the business. Your regional government rep seemed concerned about their fate and why changes are happening. Looks like shoring up more cash for purchases as the industry shrinks to a few large players through buy outs and M&A. Just came on the boards as an ex pharmer to see what other changes were going on. Layoffs are in everyone's future, no matter how great your drug, your detailing skills, or evaluations.

Well of course you will experience a re-org. Your division was sold to Novartis. All other divisions are safe for two more years. Sorry about your situation.

There will definitely be other reorgs in other divisions, you cannot blow it this bad with current products and suck at launching new ones and keep the same number of people. do the math

Stop it chicken little. If it happens it happens. Did you see the Novartis deal coming? No! No one did! Other acquisitions, partnerships, in-liscencing, etc are all very real possibilities. Again, so sorry that they sold your division. It was a shinning star within the organization. It is what it is. Best of luck to you and your colleagues.
