Everyone is wondering what'll happen to Pfizer. Who will we buy what drugs will i have next year and beyond.

Here's what I think may happen:

Part 1: Pfizer has separated into 3 operating divisions to establish a value for each division. GEP is the largest in terms of revenue as you know. The most common speculation is that Pfizer will sell the GEP and keep GIP and VOC under the Pfizer name. At that point Pfizers market cap will drop below 100b.
Part 2: it's no longer advantageous for Pfizer to buy a foreign company for the tax advantage. Especially considering any purchase will be at a serious premium.
Part 3: WE will be purchased by a foreign company. That company will grab up Pfizers cash horde, cut much of our sales force, and pay less taxes while doing it

There will be companies lining up to grab our cash. Especially after we shift dozens of generic product potential liability issues to the GEP buyer.

    1. Yes, there's a 95% chance this will happen.
    2. True about the tax advantage no longer being a reason to purchase a foreign company. However, we need to buy a pipeline so purchase of a large or several small companies is necessary.
    3. Not going to happen. Those enormous egos in NYC HQ couldn't handle THEIR Pfizer being bought.

I agree with all the above.
But aren't there other egos in other companies who'll take pride in an aggressive buyout? Like the clash of the Titans......

You're right about egos. Pride goeth before the fall. But will 10's of millions in compensation cure a swollen ego?

There are plenty of egos out there who cold give two shits about the Pfizer echoes.
I fact,I'd bet there are some that would take great pleasure taking Pfizer down.

Ian and the ELT would reap MILLIONS if Pfizer is taken over. I'm sure the cash will smooth over any bad feelings that might have. It would be a fitting end to the company....destroyed like the many companies they did the same to.

This. All the management golden parachutes you hear about are designed to make managers rich after a change in control so that they won't resist.

Do you really think several years of salary, bonus, continued gold-plated benefits, and immediate vesting of all options and restricted stock (which then gets bought out at a premium by the buyer) is a bad thing if your name is Ian? If that is still not enough they can always negotiate to sweeten the terms a bit on the way out the door and those demands are usually met in full without much squawking.

This is a strange discussion. It sounds awkward.

Nobody can say what the future is for anything. It is what it is.

You have issues if you're talking to yourself.

There is no debate on any of this ridiculousness. Odd.

Blunt, but accurate. Little hard to buy a company that is work at lot more than you are...more likely that Pfizer would sell of certain divisions that are less profitable

Pfizer will buy someone else within 6 months to 1 year. Then they can have another downsizing. Also will be having more contract reps. instead of the full time reps. What needs to be done is to clean house at headquaters, too many people making $$$ that are not worth it. But that will not happen- it is always the sales reps fault

Calm down kiddies. No one will buy Pfizer in its current state. There is no real upside. Cash flow has increased due to constant downsizing, dumping pensions and healthcare for retirees, etc. all signs of a weak but cash heavy company. With no pipeline and most of the acquired proprietary products maturing and or losing patent, pfe will have to buy someone or something to keep going in a positive direction. Spin offs will happen as will more downsizing. As shitty as Pfizer is, It will always survive.

Unfortunately a house cleaning at headquarters will NEVER happen. Those parts of the company that will be spun off will be the ones who are the best off. Zoetis is a good example of this. Contract reps are the future so get used to the idea of tiny salaries!
