Does your product dump its entire 24 hour contents of morphine when a patient takes cough syrup with alcohol in it?
Actually the FDA would know the answer to that question. After once a day Palladone was removed from the market for that very reason, FDA asked the makers of Kadian and Avinza to conduct research to determine if alcohol compromised both of these drugs delivery systems, as they both contain a day's supply of morphine narcotic. You can contact FDA and ask about the results of those research studies. Until you get an answer from FDA, it would be best not to consume alcoholic containing medicines with your once a day narcotic pain killer. www.FDA.com
[ QUOTE ] Why would anyone take Avinza unless they had cancer pain? It's pure morphine, right? [/ QUOTE ] that's completely idiotic.
[ QUOTE ] Why would anyone take Avinza unless they had cancer pain? It's pure morphine, right? [/ QUOTE ] Do you believe that 'cancer pain' is the only type of severe pain? You don't know much about pain management, do you?
Addicting or not addicting? , that is the rub... Why would a doctor give patients morphine unless it was to treat pain for a fatal disease? Why take the risk?- (Med school 101 and Ethics 101) Do you have any data to support that AVINZA is not addicting?
Q:Why would a doctor give morphine unless it was a fatal disease. A:Because there are real people living with real pain so severe and often undiagnosable who cannot walk, sit, drive or enjoy basic living without pain relief. Many of us take morphine as the very last resort and do not want or like taking it. We want to have a semblance of a normal life which includes: not depending on others to open a drawer, drive us to a store or push a grocery cart. We are not seeking a recreational high or avoiding every other treatment option. We are trying to get by and so put up with nausea, constipation and addiction- so ease up on the judgement and remember compassion is an important skill as a doctor!
You people are stupid. Go educate yourselves, this board is scary. Morphine is used for pain, it is a potent mu agonist. Period. Get a clue.
