No women or diversity in top leadership. Discrimination lawsuits coming!!

    Been here for over a year and where are all the women in top leadership positions? Other than the token, useless woman in HR, all the top leaders are men! And no diversity to speak of.

    Very different in other pharma companies. These sr leaders appear to be hiring only those in their own image and keeping strong, smart female talent from being promoted to any significant positions where they might threaten their boy's network. Watch out! The lawyers are circling. Discrimination lawsuits coming!!

    He's the perfect token. Not smart enough to threaten anyone on the sr management team. But these good ole' boys won't promote anyone with talent as they're scared to be replaced. Cowards.

    The "other companies" you speak of promote women and minorities even when the aren't qualified, even when they aren't the best candidate, just to fill a quota. So, you should leave and go work at one of those companies immediately, instead of bitching and whining on an anonymous message. Loser!

    Spoken like a trust racist and sexist. You just proved our point. Although I'm sure you put up a good front so that you don't show your true colors in public, behind your laptop, you think every woman and minority promotion is to fill a quota and they're not qualified. Racist, sexist coward!

    And what about all the "good ole boys" that are promoted and protected not because of their qualifications but because of their butt kissing and that UCB managers are afraid of women in equal positions

    RIGHT ON!! Granted there are cases where incompetence like CD and IC were promoted to fill a quota. But the ones responsible for the biggest f-ups at UCB have been the "good ole boys" like GD, SB, TE, SH … the list is too long for this post.

    Head of Bio development - Female
    Head of New a Medicines - minority

    US
    Legal head - Female + minority
    Reg head - Female
    Govt Affairs head - Female
    HR head - Female

    Yes. We are talking about the same company. But your information is out of context and misleading. Instead of listing every exception, here are the facts.

    ExCOM: 8 out of 10 are men. Although more balanced than other UCB management teams on both sex and race, most company's excoms are. They need to portray the "right face" to the public and Wall St. But if you look under the hood, these are the facts.

    JT's BioBrand team: 100% men

    US LT: 8 out of 10 are men. Next level down, both Immunology and CNS National Sales Dir are men. Next level down, 100% of the RBDs in both Immunology and CNS are men.

    Rest of world: All but 2 of UCB's country GMs are men.

    Shall I go on? This is why UCB is vulnerable to litigation and bad PR. And UCB will lose because the facts don't lie. Then UCB will be forced to hire women and minorities to fill quotas in a rush. And that's when unqualified women and minorities are promoted and hired. Nobody, regardless of race or sex, want to see unqualified people promoted. That's bad for everyone because we all suffer when bad people are promoted, whether you're a man, women, black or white.

    So UCB needs to do the right thing. They need to start promoting based on merit, results and facts, not promote and protect based on the opinions or preferences of the ole' boys network, which is what they've been doing for far too long.

    We need also look at the number of women and minorities that are fired or forced out.

    Also, the number of white men who were given other roles or promotions instead of fired despite their incompetence and poor results.

    - What quota / ratio represents diversity?
    - Is it just male / female or do we include LBGT as part of the gender mix to promote diversity?
    - What is a minority race or nationality in a global organisation? Is it a caucasian american in Japan?, a French woman in China, a Belgian in Australia?
    - Didn't you just suggest that promotion should be "based on merit, results and facts"?
    - Please provide your evidence that on a consistent basis, the non-women, non-minority members of any of LT examples you have given, are not there on merit and are only there as you put it due to "ole' boys network"?
    - Is your issue actually the UCB US LT & US Sales & Marketing?

    facts? Context? exceptions? here are some corrections and additional context to your facts....

    - Number of ExCom is 8 total (not 10), 2 of which are women, one a non-caucasian male (http://www.ucb.com/about-ucb/management)
    - There are 3 women of different nationalities on JC(T) Biobrands LT.... (AV, SJ and AS), not 100% men
    - As of June 1, 2014 - There were 3 x GM women (France & China & Southern Europe)..... But there were only 12 Direct Country / Region UCB GM positions filled - Nationalities = 1 UK, 2 x French, 1 x German, 1 Swedish, 1 x Spanish, 3 x Belgian, 3 x US

    Please.... Do go on...
