Can the company cars be used for personal miles? In past companies, we were allotted 10% of business miles, as personal miles before being charged additional money. Is there something similar to that at Auxilium?

In the tax world, it is called "permissive use" which defines the ability for a person to use their company vehicle during non-work hours. All companies policies are different and there is definitely a policy in place. Small tangent but here is why. If you are in your car during the day during work hours and are in an accident and injured you are covered under workmen's compensation for being injured at work. But once you get home and touch that door knob, you're not working anymore so if you are in an accident in the evening off work hours you would not be covered by workmen's compensation.

Now to the point at hand. The IRS requires all companies that allow their employees "permissive use" to withdrawal certain funds from each paycheck. This is because a company vehicle being used for personal use is considered part of the representatives compensation meaning the personal use is like extra pay. Some companies comply, some companies do not. Some only charge you if break a certain ratio of business to personal miles. But that can easily fixed you know. Some do a combination, like charge $50 a pay period and then charge you again if you drive to many personal miles. Example, if you live in Pittsburgh but take that car to DC to see your boyfriend 3 times a month you are gonna rack up those personal miles.
