"Novartis announced Wednesday that Jeff George, the current leader of its Sandoz unit, will replace Kevin Buehler as head of the company's Alcon division effective May 1. In addition, Novartis noted that George will be succeeded in his current position by Richard Francis, who joins the drugmaker from Biogen Idec. The company indicated that Buehler, who is retiring, will provide management and strategic support on the Alcon business as part of the planned transition."
