Just read that Bristol-Myers Squibb in Greece has announced major layoffs – most probably due to the economic situation. This is not the news. The real story as reported in the leading local newspaper, is the way that this situation was handled: “resign or else…”
BMS Greece reached very low depths of “cheapness”. Please read below actual email send by the Communications Director Irene Psyrra, notifying employees that bottled water could not be given anymore, and rather that they are instead to drink tap water. Enjoy…

    “Dear Colleagues,
Within the context of our "Corporate Social Responsibility Project 2010-2011" and in full alignment with our Green Policy, we would like to inform you that we will stop using plastic water bottles since the tap water, which was tested for its quality by a specialized company, is drinkable.
For your convenience, we will soon provide you with water carafes. In the future, we will be conducting water safety tests on a regular basis.

Together, we can make a difference!”

...to be fair, not only Irene Psyrra, but also Pervaiz Ahmed (Greek BMS GM from Pakistan), Mike Howley (Irish Finance Director) and George Kollias ( a ...Greek ex-patriot HR Director) are responsible for all this ... new culture and the 35% cut offs.

There are many communication approaches within BMS Greece.
If you like the vage one ask Pervaiz.
If you like the ironic one ask Kollias.
... but if you want the worst ask Psyrra!

    Together will make the difference

So tell us then - who in this company is so wonderful they can't drink tap water? All this "I'm so precious" BS should have been dumped years ago
