There are instances where a company might bill after a patient has been deceased but it is important to point out that family members may not know how to notify the provider. Medicare rules are strict enough that once it has been caught they will just take the overbilled amount off of future remittances. Pacific Pulmonary's problems are probably due to the sales force not documenting the pick -up due to pressures from management and commission earnings. I imagine those issues are being resolved. To back up my claims..I knew a rep for the company who tried to sell me 50 concentrators.

That's funny, because I know of 2 patients that Medicare is still getting billed that the company has been notified that the patient passed away (one who passed away almost a year ago).
