I thought all R&D was overseas now.

R&D is a joke. No research and a bit of development. It will continue like this as long as MarcusS and all his direct reports continue to lead R&D. Get rid of Marcus and the whole lot.

R&D can only produce what the holders of the purse strings at the top of the foodchain permit. Many companies are choosing the lower risk and potential quick reward of purchasing a start up or company with a product that has shown promise rather than investing prolonged time and money on developing products (even if the internal projects have promise, whether new, or to add an indication). Large companies answer to shareholders, so profits and especially quick ones, will always be a temptation for the GM's of the world. There is a big downside to the purchasing strategy, though, you better have top notch B&D or you'll get stuck with a turd and lose all the way around - forfeited R&D opportunies and mortgaged the future on a unicorn.

I agree. Marcus schabacker is a disaster. There's no innovation. No R&D. Their innovation boils down to "simple process / product improvement" such as better film, or cheaper container. Stock is up due to budget cuts, and anticipation of Stock split in 2015. Glad I got out. Sorry for those left behind.

Totally agree. He is a poor leader - way over his head. Everyone is so sick of the stupid presentations with buzzwords to keep us excited about no innovation and just doing a lot of clean up work and change management. Most are looking to leave as soon as possible. Too bad HR turns a blind eye to all of this. Most of the really good people have moved on and found better opportunities to do real R&D elsewhere for more money and with better leaders.

The REAL problem in Med Products isn't Marcus. R&D has suffered b/c the pharma side of the company has routinely sucked every last penny of profit out of Med Products and Biosurg to fund new compound Discovery and R&D.

Now that the company is splitting in half, maybe we'll see more new product development and new stuff to sell.

That's a joke. Look at which side of the business is generating the profits now, moron. You don't know how good you've had it. It will be even more challenging after the spinoff.

What "new compound discovery" are you talking about? Baxter Med Products does not do early stage R&D - are you kidding? What are you smoking?

"new compound discovery" - he probably refers to "ultra pure NaCl, or super generic saline IV with innovative 0.90001% Saline concentration."

Matter of fact is revenue Med Del vs Bioscience is roughly 50/50, but profit margin is very heavy for bioscience and very poor for medical products.
This will be quite a show once they split.

Get your popcorn and enjoy the show.

What do you think will happen to the Med. Prod./Baxter side after the split?

It will tank! Stock prices will go down and we will all be screwed. Start prepping your resume because you will need it.

Duh, this one would not worry about his/her resume because it's a paid for mole troll hack. Trolls looking for free shit to fill in a report for a competitor care about nothing but their own un ethical profit. Un qualified to communicate on this topic directly so they drop posts here. boring.

    Really???!!!

Were you born an AH or did you work at it your whole life? My guess would be both.

I simply thought that those so qualified to address this board may have some insight.

Could the relatively newly acquired Gambro part of the business make up for the margins lost from Bioscience? Just a thought.

They previously hacked a bunch of people in Round Lake R&D when they outsourced and/or moved various R&D activities to India (CRO) and new Baxter R&D China site. At first was disappointed in Baxter but also in our government that provides no incentive to maintain capability in US.
