Welcome to Week 5 of NCAA FOOTBALL PICK EM! This week looks like there are more Big 10 and Big 12 match ups "yawn." Looks like some good PAC 12 games though.

DIRECTIONS: I have attached and posted the USA Today Odds for these 13 games and chose the "average," of all of the different odds making services that USA Today endorses. Please choose wisely and see if you will be the NCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL PICKER for the week. This is only for bragging rights!

Please bold and underline Your PICKS!

    SUMMARIZED RULES:

    1) Pickers who elect to remain anonymous are welcome, but must adopt an unregistered sport's board name (ie. BroncoBoy) to get due recognition for your picks. Please identify yourself with each post.

    2) During regular season play all picks will be based on the "odds" or the "point" system reported by USA Today (SportsDirect) prior to the week's games. The "points" recognized will be the "points" displayed on posted "Pick-Em" schedule that will available for viewing 3-4 days in advance of the week's games. Should the "point" spreads change after the "Pick-Em" schedule is posted - the revised "points" shall not apply.

    3) A player may change his pick selection at any point prior to game time with the original point spead

    4) Not all NCAA Div. 1 games will make the weekly "Pick-Em" schedule. Only those major games of interest. We are going for quality here. Not quantity. Games with a 21 "point" spread or greater are highly discouraged. If a picker wants to add an unlisted game contact the interim coordinator BroncoBoy.

    5) All pickers shall show respect and courtesy toward their fellow pickers. A competitive spirit is fine. But let's keep it clean and be friends. We don't want to evolve into vitriol and mean spiritness that got the poli board shut down. Be nice to one another.

    6) In the event of a board dispute on operational matters - all disputes will be resolved by the majority. There are no kings or queens on this board who have the final say. We are a democracy - and the majority rules. If the majority is only 2 people - so be it.

    7) Post-season play (bowl games) shall be based on straight picks and NOT the "point" system used during regular season play.

Bronco, Could you please post the latest leader board? It's good to have it posted before and after picks for the new week are made. Thanks!

In moderation. Should be up soon.

Hey, how come no OSU - Michigan State game on the board? That should be a good one.

Tink - do you realize that Texas A&M is (-13.5) and not (+13.5)?

I just want to make sure that you're aware of the mistake.

We don't want to have to deal with any protests on Sunday morning.

Hey Everyone, I have added Ohio State Vs. Michigan State. Night Train was very helpful pointing this out. I also edited the Arky Vs. Texas A&M game. Texas A&M is favored -13.5.

PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO MAKE YOUR PICK FOR OHIO STATE VS. MICHIGAN STATE!!!!

Bronco is gaining momentum. Let's see if I can push the pedal to the metal this week.

    ********************************************************************

    Thurs, 9/27

    1. Stanford Vs. Washington (+6.5) [No brainer. This is a gift. Didn't even look at the histories. Spread is way too low.]

    Sat, 9/29

    2. Baylor Vs. West Virginia (-13) [Both 3-0 but WV has played ALL losers so far and are untested. Baylor played ULMonroe (a good team) and won by 5. WV is favored by too many points.]

    3. NC State Vs. Miami (-2.5) [Both 3-1. NC State lost to Tenn by 14. Miami beat GA Tech by 6. Miami wins at home by at least a TD.]

    4. Arkansass Vs. Texas A&M (-13.5) [This one is a wild ass guess. But I think the Razorbacks make a comeback here. So far they've been humiliated and I think they fight back in Texas. A&M certainly doesn't beat the spread.]

    5. VA Tech Vs. Cinncinnati (+6.5) [VaTech lost to Pitt by 18. Cinncinnati beat Pitt by 24. And VA Tech is favored here by 6.5 pts? WTF? Another gift. The bookie who calculated these odds must have been high]

    6. Clemson Vs. Boston College (+9.5) [At first I picked Clemson. But just changed it. After giving it more thought, I don't think Clemson can overcome the 9.5 pts playing BC at home. BC lost to Miami by only 9 pts and I think Miami is every bit as good as Clemson]

    7. Tennessee Vs. Georgia (-13) [The only decent team that Ga (4-0) has played is Mizzou and beat them by 21. Tenn (3-1) only lost to Florida by 17. I think Tenn holds their own against Ga who won't beat the spread.

    8. Arizona State Vs. Cal (-1.5) [I have no idea why Cal is the favorite here. Makes no sense to me. When it doesn't smell right I go with my gut instinct]

    9. Texas Tech Vs. Iowa State (+2.5) [So far Tech (3-0) has played 3 loser teams and are untested. Iowa State played Iowa at least and beat them by 3. I think the spread should be reversed. State wins this one going away]

    10. Texas Vs. Oklahoma State (+3) [Texas (3-0) beat Ole Miss by 33 and won 2 games against total losers. But Okla St. (2-1) beat 2 total losers and got dey asses kicked by Arizona by 3 TD's. Of the 2 teams - Texas is the better.]

    11. Wisconsin Vs. Nebraska (-11.5) [Spread is way too wide. Wisconsin is not that shitty a team]

    12. Ohio State Vs. Michigan State (-3) [Should be a barn burner. But OSU's poor performance against UAB last week (favored by over 30 and won by only 14) was my deciding factor. Plus, the game is in State's backyard. OSU's 4-0 record does not accurately describe the quality (or lack thereof) of their team.]

    ********************************************************************

Best of luck to all pickers!

    Oooops. Bronco forgot a game.

    *********************************************************************

    12. Oregon State Vs. Arizona (-2.5) [This is another gift. So stupid. WTF? Arizona is favored over Oregon State? HAH! Not even worth the time to explain why this one is so absurd. Thanks for the easy score, BamaBoy! I need all that I can get!]

    THURSDAY SEPT. 27th

    1. STANFORD VS. WASHINGTON +6.5

    SATURDAY SEPT. 29th

    2. BAYLOR VS. WEST VIRGINIA -13

    4. ARKANSAS VS. Texas A&M -13.5 (Arky still don't have their shit together)

    5. VA TECH Vs. CINCINNATI +6.5 (VA Tech keeps burning me)

    6. CLEMSON VS. BOSTON COLLEGE +9.5 (Clemson plays mad)

    7. TENNESSEE VS. GEORGIA -13 (Tennessee still needs a defense)

    8. ARIZONA STATE VS. CAL -1.5

    9. TEXAS TECH VS. IOWA STATE +2.5 (TT Head Coach Tommy Tubberville is about to be fired)

    10. TEXAS VS. OKLAHOMA STATE +3 (This one is really interesting?)

Thanks for replying. Sorry to be so picky but could you please add this pick to your original list of picks. It helps to have all of the picks in order when I check them on Sunday. Sorry to be so particular, I just want to make sure I get your picks right and you get the proper credit you deserve.

There's a shocker, Tinkles bets against Michigan State. You may actually be right this time.

Wow. Who woulda thunk? Stanford gets knocked off by cream puff. There's absolutely no consistency in college football this year. One week a team is on top of the hill - then some loser team comes around and embarrasses them. I swear, had I been in Vegas I would have slapped down a Cleveland on the table. The house must have made off like a bandit. Thank God I rarely go to Vegas and when I do keep my sportsbets to a minimum. But I was 100% positive that Stanford would win and easily beat the spread. Just goes to show.

Stanford skunked all CP pickers in Week #5. No perfect scores this time either. That game left me picking my nose.
