This is gaining steam on the street.

    40% off sale. Why not?

Can't see that happening. Salix has nothing we want. Maybe if their IBS drug ever comes to market.

Salix stock has jumped 10% in the last few days.

That IBS indication is worth $1.5 billion per Goldman Sachs report. May be something to this.

12:23 EST - Salix Pharmaceuticals (SLXP) would be an attractive takeover target for Shire (SHPG), according to Jefferies, which estimates a deal could fetch $11.9B. Allergan (AGN) was interested in Salix, before the Botox maker called off its pursuit amid concerns about Salix's inventory accounting, The Wall Street Journal has reported. Once Salix resolves these issues, Shire could be a potential buyer because the union would help Shire double sales from its stomach-drug portfolio to more than $2B a year, Jefferies says

Not going to happen. FO is all about Bio-Techy stuff, not Bio-Pharmy stuff.

Salix GI portfolio is very strong- minus Apriso. I could see this happening- it would really beef up our product line. GI's love Xifaxan and Uceris is gaining steam from what my Dr.'s tell me. We definitely wouldn't want any of their sales reps or managers- just products!

They are worse than used car salesmen.

Not gonna happen, somebody else will though once they fix their inventory and restate their earnings. Salix has jumped the shark when it comes to their "Whatever it Takes"
    business and promotional practices.

It's a fact. Shire is poking around Salix. Whether something comes of it is 50/50. Several in Chesterbrook have confirmed this. Apparently Salix's inventory 'issue' is not as serious as first thought.

Here's a newsflash from someone who actually works for Salix. Most of us are praying for the buyout and a layoff. We have a protection agreement guaranteeing every Salix employee a years salary, bonus and benefits PLUS full payout on our stock grants in the event of a sale. Those of us who have been with the company more than 5 years have thousands of shares of company stock. Many will never need to work another day if Shire buys Salix. Very few will be looking for jobs. Most will be laughing at the dolts at Shire who will remain on the treadmill of Pharma until the next layoff. Who's the idiot now?

    Please buy us. Please.
