Expansion????

    If you are not sure what impact the merger will have on the current sales force, why expand?? It would make sense to secure the jobs of the current sales force with ABBVie first.

    agree!!! Save these spots for those misplaced in the alignment. This is just a attempt to ease shareholders concerns about the large price tag that Abbvie paid for Shire. If they can show that Shire is indeed growing and "expanding" the higher ups can cash out on this cow before jumping ship. What better way then news releases showing positive gross and gains. Nothing but business as usual. Flemming should make an announcement saying there will be no jobs lost in Neuroscience with the merger BEFORE they even think of hiring new employees.

    Pfizer did the exact same thing after the King Merger. Hired a bunch of new employees for an "expansion" then laid them off along with the rest of the king employees 8 months after the deal closed. Same ole same ole. This is Pharma's way of handling things for the shareholders. Have to keep the stock growing.

    Yep PS & KK afraid you will leave, or spend time looking for a job. They got you!!! Hire small number of new reps get launch numbers then cut -- Heck they might not even plan on expanding. But my guess is the expansion is a lye and a smoke screen Look at their past. B&L sight still chatting about KK.

    Yes. This is very common. Pfizer is not the only company to do this with a Merger. Abbvie has a past record of doing the same. Smoke screen for the employees and share holders. If you are smart, business as usual will include sending out resumes.

    Finally someone with a brain! We are all toast! The business as usual, focus, sell what's in your bag, performance counts, yada,yada,yada is all bullshit to keep naive people working. Don't be stupid. We are all not needed and 80% of us will be unemployed within 6-8 mos.
    the smart thing to do is work the minimum and look for a job while you still have one.. Make your copies while you can for your resume. Get your finances in order, and ready yourself for a long job search.

    What expansion? I know we are actively filling NS openings but have not heard of any expansion.

    Yes because there were NO top reps laid off during the last layoff round. Don't be an idiot. These things have nothing to do with how good a rep is. Its one thing and one thing only. The bottom line. We lost several PC club reps during the last round.

    STOP!!! Shire is a second rate company with third rate reps! Expand ??? Where and with whom?
    Wake up, grow up, and realize there's an80% chance we'll all be gone by January at the latest. We are not needed, not wanted, and will be thrown on the heap of the unemployed!
    Target is hiring holiday help!

    Well put, we are doomed!!! They will try to get dirt on some reps and then manage them out or make up BS on reps and fire them on BS. Ensure you keep your noses real clean and ask for a code of ethics policy as well as expenses policy so you know that your RD can't make shit up to HR.

    Do the minimum, pretend all is great at Shire, your happy with your pay increase and so greatful for being here at Shire. Whilst doing this send your resumes out and just enjoy the free gas and car. Drive everywhere and anywhere with the car and enjoy doing not a lot. Your RD is going to pretend they are coming out with you on a ride along by sending out invites but then cancel or go sick. So enjoy what we have for how ever long we have it. By the way anyone else's RD had way more than 10 sick days in a year and still they have two weeks vacation time left....hmmmmmm???
