I heard that Medline is getting into the medical device reprocessing business by partnering/acquiring w/Medisiss (a surgery center reprosessor). Does that make any sense? Medline's quality standards have always been a topic of question. Can they really reprocess without risking big problems?

You don't know Medline very well. Maybe you did 15 years ago. Good luck in competing with us.

Our surgery center was approached by Medline and Medisys sales agents last week. There were pretty aggressive with their marketing claims, so they must be putting on a big push for business.

Back up your quote...what surgery center? Feels like you're a Mckesson rep searching for answers.

Medline will partner with any company to get what they want. Be it Henry Schein or Medisis or RF Technology or.... Once Medline get what it wants the knife is pulled out and the relationship is killed quickly.

When will the medical industry understand?

Medisiss is such a tiny company, is the partnership only going to be marketed in the Northwest where they're based? Does that mean Glade will be managing the launch? Good luck with that! Maybe, like you said, they'll pick their brain, copy their processes and then launch their own service.

MediSISS did partner with McKesson for a few years and had pretty good national sales with surgery centers, so they are not only in the Northwest. McKesson switched to SterilMed in MN as their primary vendor this year because a lot of their customers were not too happy with MediSISS.

Medisiss reprocesses so many Ethicon products without FDA approval. In my region in FL, they are doing the Xcel trocars and ACE harmonic shears but they do NOT have a 510K for either these. They are due for a bitch slapping from FDA, so they are a perfect fit for Medline.

There has not been much public reference to it, but Medline purchased 49% of MediSISS last year.

Thanks for the feedback, but we double-checked and cannot find any record of MediSISS being approved for these products. We were able to find 510(k) for several other reprocessors on the B5LT trocar but not for MediSISS. Is the approval under another name? Can you provide the 510(k) number?

Why are you worried about this info? If you were anyone and truly worried about this you would have the authority and the know how to find this info.

Just so you know if you were a real customer, your medisiss rep would provide you a direct link to the FDA's website so you could see the exact 510k number that they have for this particular item.

Medisys is pretty ineffective and easy to compete against. Every manufacturer is being forced to offer some sort of reprocessing and there just isn't any way for Medisys to compete effectively. The turnaround is a week to two weeks. They are certainly reprocessing things that they aren't supposed to, and delivering them sterile every time, which is a waste of money. Have fun getting beaten at your own game.

Medisiss seems to be going through an expansion; I've been called by a recruiter. Is this a good job? I can't find much out about the company but it does seem that most of the upper management has turned over in the last 6-12 months. Are things better now or????

Can someone fill me in on what they feel is relevant information? Thanks!

Medisiss is getting ready to take off. They have excellent processes and solid backing from Medline. Pursue the opportunity!

What makes you say this if the management has all turned over recently, why is that? How can they compete against Stryker??? And what about SterilMed. These are the biggest medical companies in the world and Medisiss has what advantage?
