What leads you to think that? Please explain.

The acquisition should start rolling by 8-1

Not going to happen for at least 6 months, see Lobo's interview on Fox News.

It can and will happen sooner. S&N board can request formal negotiations in 11 weeks.Wonder if J&J will make an offer, that's probably what they should have done- instead they have a 23 bil egg on their face.

Depuy is in a much better spot with Synthes than they would have been with smith and nephew

My nanny has a cousin that scrubs toilets at the S&N headquarters. She understands English pretty well and overheard JB on her phone discussing the acquisition by Stryker while she was on the crapper. Apparently she had nasty case of IBS but the point is that they are shooting for a target date of October 2014.

Good one! Jnj could raise the price. Here is the problem- Jnj is still in shock over Zimmer biometand nowhere near where they thought they'd be with the Synthes integration.

Well if he said that on fox it must be true.

Or Medtronic. S&N had a great run

That could really be something to see.
Since DePuy/Synthes can't find their asses with both hands, Medtronic could clean up on primary vendor contracting.
If they don't make a play for S&N, they are fools. Which, of course, would surprise nobody...

    Yawn...

This rumor circulated last year around the same time. If this was even remotely true, the stock price wouldn't be down 1% today.

    Move on.

Sorry but you are way off. Acquirer typically goes down and acquiree typically goes up. Syk down 1%, snn up 3+% on a day when market tanked. It's going to happen.

J&J buys Depuy, Depuy J&J buys Synthes, Zimmer buys Biomet, Stryker buys Mako and not one peep before any of these buyouts happened. This deal is front page news and everyone knows way before it happens...Stryker and Smith& Nephew are either complete idiots or this is total BS. Insider trading rules? Just a thought

This stuff is out there because S&N leaks it. The rumors help boost their stock price... and if they are even slightly true (say talks are happening) then there is no legal wrong doing by S&N's executives and perhaps a bigger sale price (which means more money for them). Expect this to continue.
My question why isn't Stryker's management smart enough to counter this silly little tactic. If Stryker really wants S&N, and I think they do.... THEY SHOULD WORK FASTER. OR BE DRIVING THE PURCHASE PRICE LOWER.

That's why they got Goldman Sachs working on this. Get it done quick and right. Expect an inflated price tag but in the long run it will benifit Stryker extremely well.

Reps claim to know about medicine. Now they claim to be experts in the subject of
    Investment banking.
