Starting? Good people have been steadily exiting over the last year.... On the bright side, I heard cafeteria employees will be learning spin to boost sales..."Have you ever tried fries with your burger? When you don't have fries and someone else does, how does that make you feel? Could you pass out in the middle of the day by not having fries? What if I told you our fries are made with the purest canola oil? Is it important to know that we use ketchup made in our own kitchen and is provided in dedicated...and free...dispensing packets? Can I count on you for 5 orders of fries with ketchup?"

Anyone who was hired in "06 is pension eligible and less likely to to leave. Those that have the skill-set have left or are leaving. WHY? Because they can.

Little Birdie sees a lot of squawking at the top of Med Products but not much movement.

Little Birdie is nauseous from all the backslapping TO received this week via email and multiple "cotton candy" conference calls. And for what? TO has been in senior management for a few months and accomplished little. Nothing says "Visionary Leadership" like showing up and punching the clock each day. TO will fit in nicely at the pharma company running the project management group (that's sort of like a "minister without portfolio" a.k.a., "big title and ZERO responsibilities).

Little Birdie is wondering what is necessary to land one of these jobs where one does nothing and gets promoted over and over again? There are lots of people like this in BBS, DK and VM are more good examples. Great hairstyles with nothing underneath them.

And on another note: the "new" Baxter is already looking a lot like the "old" Baxter: lots of shortsighted decisions that look good on paper but don't work in real life. Just like communism, eh?

Example: Just because ACC and BBS are both based in the "perioperative" space doesn't mean they'll make for good bedfellows. Little Birdie already sees lots of ruffled feathers due to split priorities/call points on the contracting side of things.

Even in the brave new world of socialized medicine, Pharmacy and Supply Chain don't work well together on any level. BBS negotiates primarily through Supply Chain/VAC and ACC negotiates through pharmacy, right? So tell Little Birdie how having such diverse callpoints and contracting strategies will help Baxter in the "perioperative" space?

Discuss, chickens. All opinions are welcomed by the Bird.
