I read that the Japanese government is banning Novartis from the Japanese marker for some time due to continued corruption, unethical marketing and faking clinical trials. Apparently this is unprecedented in Japanese history.

    Anyone have more information?

A Japanese hospital physician testified that he falsified a report while participating in clinical trials for marketing approval for the Diovan heart drug, The Japan News writes. The doctor, who is a former Novartis NVS +0.81% employee, acknowledged inflating the number of placebo patients in the trial. The hospital had collected data on 300 patients to aid clinical studies conducted by Kyoto Prefectural University of Medicine. The episode contributed to a scandal in which Novartis apologized to the Japanese government and replaced its senior leadership at its Japanese unit.
