Isn't it time we, like many other companies, should just admit that the Phrma code is not something that is helping our companies or the industry? A long time ago, someone said "We're adhering to the guidelines because we want to stay ahead of legislation". Folks, wake up, being a Phrma memeber is NOT keeping the industry one step ahead of legislation. We are punishing ourselves and then allowing state and federal mandates to punish us twice.

Let's face reality: anything the companies enacted did nothing to change public opinion or stop the oppressive interlopers at various levels of government. We're fooling oourselves if we believe otherwise.

I'm not sad the pens/pads. etc went away. I'm speaking of the ability to actually conduct business just as every other industry does including other facets of healthcare. Prudence was certainly called for especailly in the times we live in. However, we should conclude that "playing nice" has had zero effect on how the industry is viewed and has done bupkiss to further R&D or get the FDA to be more collaborative. Time to face the facts.

The guidelines will never work unless they are the same for every company. With some companies electing to follow and some not, it puts many of us at a great disadvantage. No where is it more evident than at industry meetings where some reps wine and dine the important prescribers while the rest of us have our noses pressed to the window wondering how we can even the playing field.

soon there will be no pharma reps because docs will be employed by the hospital and limited to the formulary from the patients insurance company that shows up on their Ipad.
