I used to work in a clinical setting and when dealing with the daily stess it was very common to resort to a gallow humor. We all understood it for what it was, and often family members who were accustomed to the daily grind also understood it for what it was. We would never use that type of humor in front of the general public or in front of families dealing with the issues for the first time.

At face value Hooper's comments were no big deal. However, considering his position and the forum in which he was speaking, it was very bad judgement.
The problem is that in his position, he is paid for his judgement.

Judgement? Hooper is paid millions in options, restricted stock and salary. His comments have no defense. As far as those that argue it was "behind closed doors", well that is where you see what people really think - when they think they are in a safe environment. Hooper is a fraud.

Dude, go suck another dick, or kick your hamster again or something. Nobody cares about you, your post, or Tony's comment that was/wasn't made. It makes no difference what you post here as far as anyone keeping/losing their job. You've been doing this for what, 2 years now? Get over yourself. You're as bad as the Immunoscience and Virology posters.

Good news...Hooper apologized for making fun of schizophrenics. He stated that this is a bad example of good corporate citizenship. Also, it is bad for business considering we make a drug that treats patients with schizophrenia.

He then made a joke about the retard that started this thread. I practically shit my pants when I heard it. That guy is a hoot!

PEOPLE, please stop responding to this thread. No one cares. This idiot just keeps it going if you respond. I know he thinks corp. is going to do something and he can drive that. I'm sure they have looked and they have done nothing. Look at Mark T. threads. Two have been deleted in the past two days. If HR was going to do something they would have deleted this thread as well. They have not. This guy is wasting his time. Quit helping him drive awareness to something NO ONE cares about.

I have had the good fortune to work closely with Tony in the US and abroad, and have significant first-hand experience seeing how he interacts with people at all levels. In my 20 year career I have never met a senior executive who genuinely cares more passionately about people than Tony, or someone more focused on fulfilling his corporate duties in a way that maintained the dignity and self-esteem of others. During multiple trips abroad, when nobody was looking, Tony could be found making a point to speak with secretaries, drivers, custodians, and others who "typical" execs often ignore.

I am at another company and used to watch your board. Came surfing back this morning and am delighted to see that your OCD poster is still alive and well and must be popping this thread back on page 1 once a week or so. It is a testament to your tenacity as a competitor and must partly explain your success with your current cns product. I personally would recommend OUR product to your poster because there comes a time when all good things must come to an end. My friend, remember, that this too shall pass. Are you monitoring your children for early signs? I will pray for them.

Abilify is indicated for schizophrenia. I personally have a family member with diagnosed schizophrenia and it has destroyed their life. For Tony Hooper to make fun of that situation just calls into focus his fucking hypocrisy. This guy is a loser, you see what people really think in those off the cuff moments like his sick attempt at humor to the leadership team.

Integrity? Corporate mission? Extend and Enhance human life? Fuck this guy - he doesn't care about aptients as long as there is money being made, or he wouldn't make jokes like this.

Oh yea, for all you kool-aid drinkers, they tape every meeting - go back and view the tape, this is exactly what Hooper said. Shadow of the leader? What a joke, a sad joke.

Hey, Hooper! How about an apology you pussy? Remember your other statements a few minutes later that day? "You can walk away or you can take responsibility." "Stand up and be accountable." What are you going to do Tony?

We are listening to every word you say, you hypocrite. You deserve sensitivity training or being fired.
Well, well, we approach the three year anniversary of Tony Hooper's crass, insulting, mocking, uncaring "joke" made at the expense of the very patients he and BMS so vigorously say they are "helping".

This post will stay until Mr. Hooper apologizes for his remarks. WHERE is the "leader" we were led to believe this man is?

Mocking patients as he did and then being too much of a coward to take responsibility for his remarks, shows a sad side of BMS "leadership" (which many believe does not exist).

Hey Mr OCD; People who died doing what they loved;

The "Crocodile Hunter" Steve Irwin died while he was filming a documentary for the Animal Planet television channel. A stingray had thrust its barb into Irwin's heart.

Singer Tiny Tim suffered a heart attack while turning to leave the stage during a benefit concert in Minneapolis.

Don't play with your dwinkie tonight......we're all really worried about ya!

Well, you have not achieved dragging an apology from Mr. Hooper but you have arrived on the list of "The 10 Weirdest Drug Stories of the Month". Quite an accomplishment. No one will ever fault you for lack of tenacity.

This is positive news. Let's face it, CP is read mostly by reps. Now at least Jim Edwards puts the sorry tale of Tony Hooper's crass, insensitive "joke" about scizophrenic patients on another forum where new eyes will see it.

The reason this is important is that Anthony Hooper (President of U.S. Pharmaceuticals for BMS by the way) holds himself up as a paragon of virtue, is always running off at the mouth about "doing the right thing", "making the hard decisions, no matter the consequences" and dribbling on about how much he and BMS "care" for patients. Oh Really?!

So when he is "behind closed doors" with a friendly crowd, you begin to get insight into his real persona.

Mock me all you want, I have a family member with scizophrenia, Hooper's "joke" is an insult to all people with this medical issue and their families.

He IS and shall remain a COWARDLY ASSHOLE, up until HE "does the right thing" and apologizes. Would you expect anything less from a President in this company?????

Just because the original poster fucks his retarded brother doesn't mean he can't have a point. It just so happens that he doesn't have a point on this particular issue. Unless his retarded brother is schizophrenic too, which still doesn't excuse him for sleeping with him. Half the time, anyway.

Yes, do. The title "The 10 Weirdest Drug Stories of the Month" is the tip off: when the author writes "obsession", they're referring to the unhealthy kind of obsession. As in "that loser has had a three year obsession with Tony Hooper".

I bet if you had the stones to approach Tony face to face on this, he would probably bitch slap you to submission with his small hands anyway.

I don't think Tony Hooper ever claimed to be a professional comedian, but that joke is still funny nonetheless. Kind of like an unexpectedly funny set during open mic night after you've had just enough beers. One that, three years later, you still laugh about with your friends. Too bad he didn't finish up with some Atripla material because then you and the anti-Dellenbach people could have combined your stupid threads into one. Lighten up. I bet the dog even frowns in your house.

You shouldn't be surprised. Hoop's funny. You're not.

Of course Hooper's words are not professional, he is not a professional - but he has alot of BMS employees snowed. Is that unusual? No. Look at the caliber of the typical BMS rep who posts on CP and what their concerns are.

When will BMS have a true leader? Hooper is not.

I bet your family member or your family member's alter ego isn't complaining, so why don't you give it a rest. If you'd spent as much time caring for them rather than posting on this board for the past three years, they probably would have had a much better quality of life. So, in the end, you don't really give a shit about your family member. You just like to bitch. Now go kick your frowning dog again.

Agreed, look at the three posts prior to this one and you will gain insight into the "average" BMS rep's mind - scary. But hey, what do you expect? Shadow of the leader!! Funny how you never hear that phrase thrown around anymore, but with "leaders" like Hooper, the shadow is pathetic.

We continue to wait for Tony Hooper to apologize for his crass, mocking of schizophrenic patients, does anyone (even if you continue to play down his "joke") think he really cares for patients?

"We wait"? Are you schizo as well?

Patients are a revenue stream, no more, no less. You are one naive mental patient.

Interesting thing about this post and situation. Would Tony Hooper have made any other group the butt of a joke? Would he have made women, gays, blacks, asians or hispanics the butt of a joke?

No, of course not.

Why not? Because he knows that from both a HR and professional standpoint that would be unacceptable. But if it is a group that doesn't have an affitnity group at BMS or that would not know about his comment, they are fair game to Hooper.

That is why his crass, mocking "joke" is so offensive, because he would never do that to a "protected" group.

Hence, every black, asian, gay, female, and hispanic employee should call for an apology from Hooper. After all you could be next!

Tony Hooper is a pathetic example of a "leader". He still will not take accountablilty for his words. I thought we were all about accountability as a corporation?

I have no dog in this fight, but the point that Hooper would never make a joke about the blessed BMS protected groups is right on.
