I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
And I don't know if I want to REALLY go thru the trainingt after reading this board. What I told them and what I feel are two differnet things: I am worried that this new division might bomb because they expect me to teach the cards to find patients AND the board look like this culture hear might change.
anythoughts?

Do yourself a favor and do not accept the job unless it's a significant increase in salary like $20,000 than what you're making now just in base. If they are telling you speculative bonuses that you can earn in this division they are full of shit because there is no history. The culture has changed significantly in the last five years and this place is no longer a desirable place to work. The PAH division is going to be a dog! There is no market, very few patients will get diagnosed with this disease on an annual basis. Looking for patients is totally unrealistic. Gilead is so delusional on this division. The only reason why they are pursuing this is to really justify the Myogen acquisition to make it look good on Wall Street saw the stock does not plummet. This is classic behavior by a company who will crash and burn eventually.
Upper management does not care about you, they are firing people left and right for no apparent reason just because they can. Jim Myers and the rest of the scumbags and home office are going to rot in hell someday. Just look at the statistics of pulmonary arterial hypertension, you really have to think on how successful this drug is going to be. Even if they capture 100% of the market share the drug will not even do $400 million.
Most of the things on this board are bull shit, but about 90% on the Gilead board is true. The bottom line is this company will be at the bottom of the barrel soon and it will never recover. Once Gilead looses their integrity with Wall Street say goodnight. a corporate culture the atmosphere is absolutely horrible. I am telling you right now many people are just hanging in there for dear life to have the bulk of their options vested to get the hell out. When that happens Gilead will be forced to hire inferior salespeople because no one is going to want to work here.
I wish you the best of luck in what decision you make, but I guarantee after six months you will regret it. Gilead will not grow the market other companies have failed in doing such and other disease states what makes you think Gilead will succeed. It's one big lie right to the top.
All I want to see is the stock go to $150 or at least split 2-for-1 and have the stock run-up little bit so I can pay my mortgage off than the company could go to hell for all I care. I hope Jim Myers and the rest of the Nazi regime all die of AIDS.

Re: I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
Gilead is till a good gig. If you listen to everything on these posts it will drive you crazy. Most of the posts are from former employees or current employees who do not want to work and want eveything handed to them. As you read above, most of the long timers are waiting for the stock to split and then leave. Fine with me. If you think about the job we have, it is pretty darn good compared to a majority of jobs behind a desk from 9-5. If you are having second thoughts, then maybe this is not the place for you.

Re: I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
If you are an indepedant thinker and like to take a unique approach to your business, then Gilead is probably not a good fit. My experience with DM's in the south and with the rest of the company in general is that they are threatened by experienced reps that can think for themselves. They are looking for "yes-men". Up to you.

The days of independent thinking is over not just for Gilead but many other pharma companies. If want an independent thinking job, become a creative writer!!!! Get to work and be accountable.

Yes Gilead is a great gig if you have a good territory that is self generating for the positive. If you're fortunate enough to have this you could literally work one day a week because your efforts have nothing to do with the bottom line of your business. Gilead does not allow you to think out of the box, they are complete control freaks. I highly doubt that former employees are on this board posting stuff because they have better things to do and moved on to bigger and better things.
*** I strongly encourage you not to accept the position, you will regret it 100% after you see the corporate culture and how this company operates on a daily basis. The only thing Gilead does well is threaten and bully people around. Even those who have seniority here are not safe. How many senior people in the last 12 months were terminated for God knows what reason. Gilead does not think twice about destroying and disturbing your life your family and your dignity. Coming here will be the biggest mistake of your life!
I am sure you have seen plenty of well written and extensive threads on this board on how Gilead in so many ways is a totally dysfunctional company. I personally feel that people who have been posting on this board have spoken the truth in many ways. Someone who is a disgruntled employee would not take the time and write extensively with intelligence and without profanity.
I am warning you for the last time, if you decide to come over to Gilead it better be for a substantial increase in your salary or if you are totally miserable and unhappy at your current position. This is not a place to grow and build a long-term career. A lot of the first Gilead people in the sales force who stuck around for four years and sold nothing basically just milked the system and stepped into a pile of shit with stock options. Most of them could not sell their way out of a brown paper bag let alone the quality of some of these people are leased to be desired. What sales representative sticks around with the company that has no products for four years? It was a calculated risk that they all took and now paid off by sheer luck. To me those who would left back in those days took the safe calculated risk of securing themselves with steady employment. Those who have stayed have been awarded millions of dollars in options but the basic work effort for what it takes is not there. Those people took the easy way out and are lazy and now there are millionaires who are still lazy and do not care anymore. Good for them, I wish it was me strictly for money. You will not prosper here at all. Stock options will soon evaporate and the 401(k) plan has to be one of the worst in the industry. The last few years people came here for the stock options not for the retirement plan. If you think coming on board you will become a multimillionaire think again. It's not happening. Good luck in your decision may God guide you to make the right one.

Re: I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
why did this guy post that he received an offer from Georgia. Do you think Mgmt doesn't read the boards? how many offers could have gone out in Georgia? don't you know that management knows who you are? I gues that is okay if you are not accepting the position, but maybe you should try to be a little smarter....

Run....I worked at Actelion and left for myogen, where the culture seemed good. This is big pharma BIG TIME. We grew the market at Actelion and while it could still be bigger, Gilead upper management expectations are unrealistic. They have no idea! If you are in it for the huge pay increase and are willing to give up your individuality at any price, then go for it. If you are currently happy with your job and manager...stay put, you will be happy you did!

Gilead Upper Management knows that their expectations are unrealistic. They need to hold tight to those unrealistic expectations to continue to justify overpaying for Myogen (2.5 Billion). The only way these small minded incompetents think they can reach any level of sales is to squeeze the bloodlife out of the sales force. In reality, they do the complete opposite. Just a matter of time before the bubble bursts!

Re: I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
I almost interviewed for a PAH position. I am very experienced in Biotech and am soooo glad that I did not pursue this position. I think all companies have the big brother problem (it comes with this industry) however the sell sounds miserable. That is the key to this business, do major research on the disease state and competition. Know this BEFORE you take the job because lets face it, the people hiring ARE salespeople and know how to sell a position to even the most experience rep. I feel much better now!

Re: I just got an offer in the PAH in the south
Do not accept! I went through the first training and already am looking. I left a good job for less than a 10% increase thinking this would be a small biotech feel. Wow was I wrong. Have not met all mgrs. but heard most are just robots sending out orders. You will go through no sleep and listen to 100% of the newly hired reps regret their decision. NO JOKE! Hope the next training classes are doing better. I was Joe excited and am now seriously upset.

I told you so. Some people just do not listen. Get out when you can. Most if not all reps are looking to get out ASAP.
