Default Reimbursement - have questions - advice needed!!

I have been in pharma & biotech for 12 years and have never really had much exposure to reimbursement. I am now taking on a new sales position that requires a direct sell and a much needed understanding of reimbursement. Do any of you vets with experience in this area have any info that would help me become more knowledgable in this area (i.e. books, links,ext.)?

You've asked a really broad question. Are you selling oral prescriptions, IV medications, chemotherapy, or durable goods and equipment? For use in outpatient hospital, inpatient, home use and patient administered, given in a doctor's office? The reimbursement answers and direction will be drastically different depending on the market.

Try "understanding reimbursement in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry" its a great book. Also a good website is http://www.everythingyouneedtoknowab...mbursement.com

I would first talk with your managed care group. They should know most of the reimbursement schedules. As stated above it all depends on what and where you are selling.

You must be with big pharma. Many smaller companies don't have a managed care group.
