ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
Well the final nail in the coffin of UK Operations had finally need nailed.
For those not in the the know let me enlighten ya, today we were told by senior management that thanks for all your years of hard work and service but you are no longer required and that they are " proposing " a grand scale restructuring of Operations and along the way there are going to be casualties i.e technicians , after sale staff , and anyone else who wants to join the queue. Basically four of the six service centres in the UK are going to be closed and the two remaining will probably be expanded, leaving thoe hard working people on the scrapheap. They are going to hold " consoltations " for those affected by these redundantcies and offer them an opportunity to move or relocated to other centres or offer some kind of compensation. Personally i find this a fucking kick in the teeth and an insult to all those hard working staff affected. I don't really care if management are looking at this in fact i hope that you are and realise how these actions are going to affect alot of people. This is probably been in the planning for some time and boy they sure got their timing right. For a company to work you need good decent people who care about their jobs but they way they have been treated there's going to be a mass exodus for KCI UK Operations. After the meeting management made their quick getaway before they got lynched, many of the people present were shocked and speechless including me.
Well anyway i've made my feeling known so i urge all staff in KCI here and in the US to add to this tread and give us some support !!!!!

Whoa. This is a business; not an orphanage. Who promised you life-long employment for your hard and dedicated work? Get real.
Corporate business decisions routinely wipe out dedicated employees--so what? KCI is not alone in that department. This is a publicly-traded company acting in its own best interests, which just coincidentally are not your best interests. All of the corporate Kool Aid at all of the meetings is the civil way to make this elemental concept not bother the employees too much, and all businesses act in that fashion.
You need to act in your own best interest and stop relying on corporate paternalism that went out the window years ago.
Get used to the idea that you work for "You, Inc.,", not for any employer.
If you persist in the idea that this, or any company acts out of altruism, you will continue to be bitterly disappointed. Get a life.

You are 150% correct. I don't know why everyone feels that they are owed something! You are employed to do a job. If you don't like it anymore, it's time to leave. Simple as that!

Re: ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
What in the world are you talking about? Nothing has even been done yet. KCI is a publicly traded company and things have to be done in certain ways. I don't know how long you have been working in corporate America but this is the way that it works. It's not something that anyone enjoys but like I said, that's the way it is.

I would look towards ZS Associates if you want to blame someone for the way things are being handled. Check out the board that speaks on them. Apparently they are notorious for these awful territory splits and corporate sales structures.

ZS is only pointing out the obvious to upper managment. It is the job of line managers to implement the changes. And there is the rub. For the most part KCI's middle mangement is not up to the task. Too many of them have been brought in from the outside. They have no concept of our business, sales cycle or how we relate to our referral sources. There seems to be reluctance to promote AE's to DMS in any care setting. Any that have been promoted, seemed to have been forced on the RVP, SVP. We have alot of talent in the field that could be tapped to take this company to the next level. Will upper management see the light or just listen to over priced consulants again?

Hey, i know it sucks that KCI UK has the risk of redundancies, but hey... don't tell me you weren't expecting it! New GM = Changes!!
We're only at Phase 1 people - Redundancies. Yet to come is the clean up of middle and senior management and the introduction of the GM's people to run the show. KCI is a company of change, and there is lots to come.
Do you think that KCI will continue to have 2 service centre's in mainland UK and still require a Director of operations, 2 regional managers, a service delivery manager, 2 service centre managers and 3/4 supervisors?! No chance, senior management need to sort out this top heavy structure.
I don't mean to be cynical, but the changes are going to happen.
KCI UK will be a skeleton of the overweight, lethargic organisation it currently is by xmas.
Merry Christmas everyone!!

Do you think it might be you that have the problem? You left your last job because you were dissatisfied and now less than a year latter you’re unhappy again. Stop blaming others for your life.

You know it. Corporate raiders. Profit = Revenue minus cost - to make the point simple.
Innovators and talented leaders work on the revenue part of the equation. Leeches, raiders, and incompetent managers work on the cost part of the equation. It happens in the life of most companies.
Usually it is some freak with an MBA or some other business degree from some sexy college in the northeast. Everyone knows that those pursuing an MBA or business degree are those who have hit a snag in their career, and they are trying to sex up their resume with a meaningless degree. They get out of business school with no innovative talent, and focus on cutting costs because they have no vision or talent to work on the revenue side.
The same with “management” consultants – when you need them, you are incompetent to start with, so why are they even paying you in the first place?
Corporate America needs to wake up and wipe out all of these business phonies. Fire all MBA’s, and fire every manager who uses consultants. Do it now, you morons! These people are sucking millions of dollars of the national wealth, and it is time to put a STOP to this madness NOW! If Corporate America does not do it, the government will. Mark my words. Clean up your house, or someone else will do it for you.

It would be intersting to know where you fit into this?
Bitter employee?
Interested observer?
Business strategist?
Senior manager?
If not the last, then your a wasted life in whatever menial role you currently occupy. You have an obvious talent for assessing the needs of a business and seeing into the future! Maybe an alternative to the list above could be considered-
Business unit manager and tarot card reader on a fairground?
Paperclip monitor and crystal ball polisher?
Or maybe, just maybe, you should stick to what you do now - preach to others, do nothing about your lost mojo and remain a frustrated know it all for ever.
Merry christmas to you too...

Re: ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
we all expected something but didnt realise how big the changes would be. it seems that they are intent on destroying the company and everything it supposedly stands for. first the sales staff last year, now ops. we know thats not going to be the end of it. its just a case of when & where the next axe will fall. (watch out all you people in the comfy chairs at h.o.) its the way kci conducts itself in these situations that makes it worse though. we have all seen the way they dispose of people!! The consultations have been a joke - personally after mine, Im not waiting around to find out whats next. Im going for interviews and when I find somthing better (and I will) then I can stick it to em. Dont let them leave you dangling so that they can keep you til theyre ready to let you go.coz once theyve decided - you will be out-no thanks, no consideration, no notice. dont look back (except to laugh when the managers that made some of the decisions are also disposed of). lets face it - how many managers does one company need? we can all do better. so stick it to em.

Re: ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
Well now that the axe is looming over ops all you wannabe managers better start sending off your CV's, I'm sure there will be vacancies for all you ass licking dickheads with other medical companies. Besides once these changes take effect give KCI about 18 months then you can kiss goodbye to surfaces in fact KCI is probably going to be sold off bit by bit to our competitors ( especially J & J !! ) and that will be the end of this adventure.
Let's face it they may call this a consoltation but deep down we all know what the final answer is going to be, while ops is being slimmed down and the country is left to be serviced by 2 centres why the fuck can you say that service is not going to suffer ????? Do you really think that a hospital is going to wait 48hrs for a bariair - NO NO NO
By gettin rid of Rotorest and other kinetic surfaces how can you call yourself KCI ( KINETIC CONCEPTS INC ) you might as well call yourself KINETICALLY CHEAP IDIOTS !!! unless anyone can come up with anything amusing.
Well i've had enough of this crap and its time to crack open the bubbly and get bloody drunk !! Laters people

I'm guessing from the lack of charisma in even the simplest of attempts to sound 'cool' that you are a digruntled KCI manager with little else to say? J.KRK? M.LNG? Bebbo? Crofty? Richard? cocks.

Re: ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
Well you're close but the fire isn't burning ( except surfaces !! )
Anyway set aside all this back stabbing and slagging off the management ( even though they deserve all they get coming and more ) Let face it, now that imminent redundancies are looming all the deadwood has finally crept out of the woodwork and the insults have started, KCI has given us all the ammo to start slagging off one another. In my opinion people who have resented others ie Elland have made their feelings known via these blogs. But be carefull what is said There are those who do deserve a good slagging off like management who have handled this so unprofesssionally that they don't even deserve to run a whore house, middle managers who are too busy covering their backsides and don't have a clue how to manage, certain techs who have abused the overtime time and time again and got away with it, and now the whole of OPS is going down faster that the Titanic, Customer Services who make more mistakes than .......there are so many to mention and they even have the guts to admit they are wrong. Besides once the axe falls which it will very soon all the good guys n gals will be gone and all that remains are the dums ass idiots left to run the company...adios n good luck ....let the farce begin !!!!!!!
And no i'm none of the above JK = message boy ML = Subliminal Agent SB = Incompetent Dwarf CC = Upper class boy racer etc etc etc....

Re: ever had the feeling you've been stabbed in the back !!!!!
Well there's a host of reasons why Surfaces hasn't worked, and despite being told literally years ago, Sales have continued to give away top notch product at below cost prices. Yep, we can all give it away, and get paid well for doing it....and who forced this.... the NHS and its short term managers, always looking at price, not cost. Now they are having the fantastic and cheap product pulled, they are moaning. God give me strength. There is only so long this could continue... a reprieve was granted whilst VAC made all the money, but now competition is here, loss making lines must be axed, along with the supporting infrastructure. That's business; it's not personal. If it's not done, the whole ship goes down, and everyone loses. I'm amazed at the stupidity shown in this and other threads, and I'm ashamed that the posters supposedly work for Operations. Normally people in this department support each other, but it just goes to show what a bit a pressure does. We've always prided ourselves on our professionalism in the face of adversity; how times change! As they say, wake up and smell the coffee!!
