Talking Re: Who is Calloway?

I have been working for Calloway for several months. I have been blessed to be working for them, and I consider myself lucky. I love my job, I love what I do, and the company has been nothing but wonderful to me. They are a highly ethical bunch of people who believe in their product, believe in the science, and have succeeded and they show continual growth in their field. I have NEVER encountered a fellow employee who was less than enthusiastic about their job.
There are no scams, and there is nothing going on at Calloway that could be considered shady or even legally questionable. This is the BEST job I've ever had!!

Liar Liar Pants on Fire. Why did you drop your medicaid business? Why did you just lay off 40+ more people? What is coming that you don't want anyone to know about? It is already getting out.

This is another Calloway employee who loves working for Calloway.
Trust me we haven't dropped medicaid, I know first hand because I'm making plenty of money off it. Try getting your story straight before throwing stuff out there it makes you look as stupid as you are. About stuff we don't want out there, look in your own back yard first because once again, you look stupid. I love working for this company and obviously you are not happy where you are since you have to post negative information. Would rather be me than you anyday.

Who writes this BS!? Perhaps you're stuck in a $hitty job and wish you worked for Calloway too? I mean, if you really knew first hand how things ran there then you'd know that there isn't much corporate, bureaucratic BS like you find at industry giants like Quest. There isn't finger pointing and problem tracking... there are solutions, and plenty of money available to create solutions. Hell, I went home Friday, came back in on Monday and walls had been knocked down to expand the lab. This company has had only one direction and that is toward success, not the slimy crap you spew here from time to time.

Just wondering if there is any suggestion on how to find out of any sales openings with Calloway as they are not listed on the company website.
Also, what is the comp package like?

July 02, 2010 - For immediate release:
Woburn Drug Screening Lab Indicted for Medicaid Fraud and Kickback Scheme
WOBURN — A Woburn-based clinical testing laboratory has been indicted for allegedly orchestrating an extensive Medicaid Fraud and kickback scheme using “straw companies” and overcharging the state’s Medicaid program, Attorney General Martha Coakley announced today.
A Middlesex Grand Jury returned 42 indictments yesterday against Callow Laboratories, Inc. (“Calloway”), two of its principals, and two employees of a sober house in connection with a wide-ranging investigation by Attorney General Coakley’s Medicaid Fraud Division.

The indictments allege that Calloway, Chief Executive Officer Arthur Levitan, and Chief Operating Officer Patrick Cavanaugh, engaged in a pervasive kickback scheme involving two straw companies which funneled kickbacks to sober houses, as well as paid middlemen and a medical office to illegally obtain urine drug screening business paid by MassHealth, the Commonwealth’s Medicaid program. The Commonwealth alleges that MassHealth paid in excess of $10.6 million for urine drug screen business obtained by Calloway as a result of these illegal kickbacks.

Other indictments returned today allege submission of false claims to MassHealth, Larceny Over $250, and Corruption of a Witness.

The defendants are charged as follows:

Calloway Laboratories, Inc.
Medicaid False Claims (3 counts)
Medicaid Kickbacks (16 counts)
Larceny over $250 (2 counts)

Arthur Levitan, 38, of Weston
Medicaid Kickbacks (12 counts)

Patrick Cavanaugh, 46, of Gloucester
Medicaid Kickbacks (5 counts)
Corruption of a Witness (1 count)

William Maragioglio, 41, of Malden
Medicaid Kickbacks (2 counts)

Kelli Ann Cavanaugh, 41, of Lynn
Medicaid Kickbacks (1 count)

The indictments allege that between 2005 and 2007, Calloway set up two corporations, JAC Resources, Inc. (“JAC”) and MJK & Associates, LLC (“MJK”), and a bank account for the purpose of carrying out a Medicaid Fraud kickback scheme. Calloway, Levitan and Cavanaugh allegedly made a series of inappropriate kickbacks through JAC, MJK and the bank account in order to induce sober houses to order urine drug screens from Calloway. Payments for those tests were then made to Calloway by MassHealth, a state program that provides health insurance for the economically disadvantaged.

These indictments allege that Calloway made inappropriate payments to Maragioglio, owner and manager of New England Transitions, and to Cavanaugh, the sister of Patrick Cavanaugh and a former manager of New England Transitions, a group of sober houses, in return for ordering, arranging for or recommending that urine drug screens for the residents of the sober houses be performed by Calloway.

It is alleged that payments to third parties to induce the ordering of drug screens from Calloway continued into 2010. Upon learning that a woman had been subpoenaed by the Attorney General’s Office to testify before a grand jury, it is alleged that Cavanaugh offered her a highly compensated sales position with Calloway.

The indictments further allege that Calloway paid an office manager and the salaries of office staff of a Brighton medical office to induce the ordering of drug screens from Calloway.

In addition to the schemes outlined above, it is alleged that Calloway was falsifying laboratory records and submitting claims to MassHealth for urine drug screens that were not ordered by an authorized prescriber for a medically necessary purpose, a requirement of the MassHealth program.

After a thorough investigation, the case was presented to a Middlesex Grand Jury which returned indictments yesterday against the defendants. The defendants will be summonsed for arraignment in Middlesex Superior Court at a later date.

Assistant Attorney General Toby Unger, of Attorney General Coakley’s Medicaid Fraud Division, is the prosecutor assigned to this case. The case was investigated by investigators Joseph Shea; Denise Long; Lisa Bailey; Donna Mitchell and Assistant Investigators Erica Schlain and Bridget Horan. Both the Massachusetts Medicaid Program and the Department of Public Health assisted in this investigation.

Cue the crickets...where are you people now talking about how great and ethical your company is???

Funny how the only ones that don't know there company was acting unethically, fraudulent and run by ruh-tards were their own employees. But, I will say that it is too bad for the reps that were out in the field busting their butts to make an impact on the company (and their own paycheck) and this is how their executives are acting. I would feel like I just got socked in the stomach. Day in and Day out you work hard to show that your company has ethics and are trustworthy, and this is how your execs pay you back...it's a shame!

Hahahaha. Funny how everyone stopped talking about how ethical this company is...but what sucks is the people who day in and day out worked hard for them and this is how their executives treated them. and screwed them over...I work for a competitor of Calloway I'd be friggin pissed if I was working for them and this happened. I thought this story would be Ameritox before Calloway.

To say Calloway is an excellent company that treats its employees well is an absolute lie. I work here. Don't get me wrong. If you do well, the money is outstanding. However, if you have ever worked for an honest company with integrity...then you can see very quickly through the deceptions here. The good people left here are staying until their accounts sunset and their commission start to decline. The owner is corrupt and greedy. They are in an industry that changed over a year ago due to physicians making money on lab services similar to what Calloway offers. Most companies saw the writing on the wall and changed their model to stay competitive. Not Calloway. Their illegal activities came to light last year and the owner and COO were indicted as well as the company on 42 counts of Medicaid Fraud and tampering with a witness. I can't tell you how many conference calls I was on to tell us how to "spin" that. Well, its been "spun" alright -- by our competitors. And, frankly they are right to point it out. The VP of Sales is a complete joke. It is hard to go around and talk about what an ethical company this is when you see first hand at meetings, dinners, etc. the upper management get wasted and make fools of themselves -- and get indicted for fraud to boot.

Having said all that -- if you are a hard worker and want to make a lot of money then Calloway is a good fit for you. I have been here a while to say the least. I like the money. I make three times what I made as a medical rep. But it is a bitter pill to swallow knowing who I am working for and what they have done illegally and unethically to make themselves VERY rich as well.

The above was well stated. I just hope everything works out for the best. It's sad to see that everyone who started here 4 years ago got a free ride, and skate around the rules and regulations.

I've been working here for quite some time now, and have enjoyed most it. I worry that the future of this company seems bleak. I hope when we do get bought out that the investors keep the hardworking staff and flush out all the shit.

There is waaayyyy to much waste here, it makes me sick.
