All they really need is to have an admin person to collect trackers, expense reports, check that all bs GPP/training is done, etc.
Send a designated shmuck to ride along once a quarter to make sure that you haven't tricked your Chevy HHR, swallowed all of your Effexor XR samples, or are living in your storage unit. Then leave you alone to do your job.
If they use tenure as a major factor in layoffs, then most people who are left will have years of experience being a rep. Who needs an oaf manager looking over their shoulder and further reducing access/effectiveness? Nobody.
