Default A open letter to the euro trash management in Basel

If you attempt to change our culture or benefits in any way we will walk away from this company in mass. From the scientist to the field rep we will take the compounds and the customers with us to our new companies

These Swiss guys better find a way to calm things down pretty darn quickly or there isn't going to be much brain power left at genentech to buy.

Everyone I talk to, at all levels, truly believe they are going to have to leave the company. None of our best will except losing our culture and benefits/comp. plan or going going backwards in anyway, certainly not to a Roche environment.

Arrogant little fuck. Don't you think it's a bit presumptuous to speak for 11,000 people without first checking with them? I must have been our working when your call came through.

When you walk away, I wonder how many will be behind you. You are so pathetic! Listen, Roche will make changes whether you like it or not. There are plenty of companies out there. Feel free to go. I am sure they can use your little mind.

It's weak cowards like you who have caused us to arrive at these crossroads. You are a big pharma coward. Leave if you wish I will stay and fight the Roche assult as long as I can.

If you are involved in research with DNA, then I might take this post seriously. If you are a field rep, nobody cares! You guys have always thought you were something special. Sorry, but you were the only ones.

What a Dick! Let me tell you something. I have worked for the "Euro Trash" for 25 years and they have been nothing but fair. Yes they are big pharma and yes you are going to see some changes (buy your own ho ho's), but no! there will not be a mass exodus from Genentech. Roche is not stupid, they are going to keep the scientist as happy as possible, but sure, there are going to be changes in the field. You can't be that big and remain a quaint littel biotech company. Just be thankful the Swiss are turning the reins over to your managemt staff and not Nutleys. Leave if you wish, but remember, there will be someone there from Roche, Genentech or any other company to step right in and take your place.

If we need to leave we will take the business with us. Roche has been nothing but a huge failure who leached of DNA. Roche field reps are the biggest joke of big pharma.

agreed....I've been in the industry and will a swiss company for 20+ years and regardless of how you view them, they are smart in their business dealings and always end up on the top. I've seen it time and time again. Sure you will say they are a bunch of bankers......that may be true to some extent. NP, they seem to be very smart bankers none the less.

Too the below poster...
"If we need to leave we will take the business with us. Roche has been nothing but a huge failure who leached of DNA. Roche field reps are the biggest joke of big pharma."

We are all laughing at this. Do what u will, in the end, we will continue to on. You my pathetic friend, u will be a bitter, out of work, excuse maker that was lucky to work at DNA in the first place. DNA will be no worse for your leaving and the company that will potentially get u will be no better. Best of luck.

If a deal ever were to go though, the 20 plus year Roche guy would be out on his ass in less than 6 months. Genentech doesn't believe in the geriatric big pharma crowd.

What chances do you think a old Roche manager will have in Genentech.

Very short life span.

The only smart thing these banker ever did was to not give you boys any stock options or ESPP. When this deal goes thru I will make close to a million dollars gross, at least 600,000 net. And your 20 years at roche is paying you what?

Sad old Rocheee

Yep gotta love our sales force (some of them). Only concerned with $$$. I hear it all the time. Makes me sick. I really do hope those threatening to leave will do so. The sooner, the better.

Yeah, at the very least these swiss losers won't be able to make any money at Genentech. It will be just another big pharma gig for them. I will also end up with some cash 475,000 or so.

if you are a scientist, then they might care. if you're a rep, then your really are just expendable. you sound like a rep. that's fine, me to, but don't think that you're important when you are really not in the scope of the big picture.

It must be really unbelievable for these Roche fucks to know that any DNA counterpart they may have could literally buy and sell them right now.

I mean pay cash for the Roche fucks house , car, whatever,,,, right now.

How could we ever coexist with these lowlife Roche losers

Quit whining!!
GENE would not be here if Roche was not there with $$ in the late 80's when most of you were in grad school.
I remember when they bought PCR for 370M from Cetus--& people laughed--in 2000 royalties were 2.1B.--they are great strategic planners.
There support in the early 90's validated your future & your options
remember "prima donnas"--all of us are replaceable

The true gap which is precipitous is that DNA is a US company with a US operational style, culture and mindset - you know... "lets get it done"
direct and results oriented.

Work styles outside of the US are not always aligned with this approach and are more focused on process and keeping everyone informed..and employed

I know that Roche wants to and is fully committed to preserving the DNA innovative and entreprenaural mindset and workethic, enalbling risk taking, experimental medicine approaches and pushing the boundaries of science and the frontiers of Personalized Health Care....

but i could be wrong about everything!!!!!

Roche is buying DNA for science. Nobody cares about the field. It is comical that these clowns believe that they will take business with them.

Take your money and leave.

Guys calm down. Roche is big, but runs like a smaller company in U.S. Also has good benefits and the highest salary in the industry per rep. Even in PC they have less than 600 reps for the country. So not all that Big Pharma stuff. We are big Bio and quite frankly the two are looking more alike these days! If it does happen be glad it's not a true big pharma!

Have you folks ever thought of team work? The dream team? What do you know about Switzerland or Europe? Is it all a cliche (excuse the missing accent). I happen to be an American woman married to one of these "home office corporate shitheads". Try a little tolerance, take a stab at understanding another culture besides US culture and you would be amazed to see what kind of bridges can be built. The Swiss people may be reserved but that doesn´t mean snobbishness. What I have noticed here is a bunch of highly educated people who don´t flaunt there credentials and many spend hours taking English classes, email etiquette, intercultural training, and the list goes on. Are you, too, making such an effort? Let´s see what happens and someday you may be able to thank the corporate trash for your pensions. Focus on the work, the science and let´s work together.

Wow. Perhaps someone could forward this thread to the powers that be at Genentech. If nothing else, maybe they'll offer some free remedial English classes during lunch hour. God knows most of you could use them.

In the meantime, why don't you whiny little pantywaists stop embarrassing yourselves already. Man up. Grow a pair. This is life. Deal with it like adults and stop crying like a pack of five year old girls. You think you're so special? You're not. Every single one of you can be replaced and no one will miss you once you're gone. That, too, is life. So suck it up, count your blessings, and deal.

What a pack of tender little flowers y'all are. Christ.
