Here is my experience with Kreg,
First, the interview. I was a bit taken by the attitude of B.S. ( my interviewers initials) he seems to like to intimidate those he is boss over. I however didn't let that get to me. When they offered me the job I decided to take it as I have over 9 years in the business of specialty beds and had ALOT of experience that I could have brought to the local office I was hired to work at.
Now during the training I had NO IDEA I had to memorize not one but TWO presentations (word for word) and had to do so before the training ended. And let me tell you their training was THE WORST EVER!! They put me in a room about the size of the Donald Trump board room (from the TV show the apprentice) The training I had was a class with 6 other people and 2 of their top sales reps that were the trainers.
The training was from 8 am until about 630 pm Mon- Fri for 2 WEEKS! with few breaks.
week one of the training was not bad it was spent out in the field with the service guys and the 2nd weeks was all sales oriented training. I was hired as an account manager and the account managers go thru the same training as the sales reps.
Now that 2nd week of training they
POUNDED AND POUNDED POUNDED AND POUNDED POUNDED AND POUNDED POUNDED AND POUNDED POUNDED AND POUNDED POUNDED AND POUNDED their "way" of doing business. The training was WAY to LONG! they gave us 2 large ( about 200 page) training books and went over nearly each page!! the training was ABSOLUTELY BORING!
My attention span was like -0.00 after just a few hours also, it got so hot in that room and the chairs were so uncomfortable! they were like folding chairs with little padding on them.
I do not understand how they can expect anyone to sit 10 hours a day with 2 breaks (15 min ea) and be able to learn (their way) of doing things plus take 2 quizzes, and at the end of the training take A
MASTER TEST and then present to the trainers 2 large product presentations that had to be memorized
WORD FOR WORD.
I can tell you there were times that tempers got a little "testy" and that is because you have 6 different personalities locked up in a room 10 hours a day and occasionally there were a few tense moments in the class.
I also want to mention that (TP) he is one of the owners, he walked by me several times and he NEVER
NOT ONCE introduced himself to me!
( or anyone in my training class for that matter)
He seemed busy and I didn't want to intrude but I do feel that someone that signs your paycheck would at least introduce themselves to their new employees.
Once the AWFUL training was over and of course I failed the master test and the presentations because I could not memorize them I finally got back to my local area only to find that 2 people had quit. I just could not take their way of doing business. And I also left.
It is so unnecessary to treat employees like crap and be expected to CRAM everything you need to know in 2 weeks. I can only tell you honestly about my experience with Kreg Therapeutics maybe it is not this way for everyone. Had they told me in the initial interview that I would have to memorize (word for word) 2 large presentations ONE WAS 8 FULL PAGES! I would have declined working for them. They have a horrible interview process. Had they told me during my interview process what was involved with the training I would have said I am not interested and not left my other GOOD job.
I never had to CRAM everything in within 2 weeks EVER anywhere else I have worked and I have been in the specialty bed business working for their competitor for years.
In my opinion they do not have a professional or a kind approach toward their employees it is their way only or the highway. I realize that they want things done a certain way but they do not even like suggestions. I found that very strange.
One good thing to say is their human resources manager is fantastic! I was very impressed with him. Too bad the management and owners are not nearly as nice or as easy to work with as JR was.
In my opinion Kreg is not a great place to work and also many of their products look very worn out some with scratches, and some had old cords that had torn and they still put them out on rent. Presentation is important to the customer and yes Kreg has some presence in this industry and yes they are growing, but on occasion they lack clean nice looking products. Now I am not saying
all their products looked like crap, but
some did and it is embarrassing to deliver a bari-frame and have it have chips on it, loose rails and /or a nasty looking mattresses on it that look like they had dried blood on them ( from cleaning and re-cleaning them)
yes the products were clean but they just looked worn out.Mostly from the chemicals they clean with and I know these are rentals and they get cleaned and reused but compare how their products look in the accounts to the competition and you will see what I mean.
I hope my story of my experience with Kreg is helpful and it is just MY EXPERIENCE some may have had a great experience mine however was not good and I left because of it.
Also, The hotel they put us at took about 1.5 hours travel time so in order to get there by 8 am we had to leave the hotel by 630 am. And leaving at 630 pm put us back to the hotel about 8 pm and then OH, DON'T FORGET YOU NEED TO STUDY TO MEMORIZE THE PRESENTATIONS............ I am glad to be away from Kreg Therapeutics as for me it was not a good fit.
