Default Bloodbath in Metro Areas

I have friends in the NYC, Nashville, and Pittsburgh areas and they got absolutely cleared out.

Anybody else hear what metro areas got crushed?

I live in a larger metropolitan area west of the Mississippi and I can tell you that we only had 1 rep displaced.

I think the East Coast got hit a lot harder than anywhere else.

Philadelphia area here... we got hit pretty hard. 4 reps out of 6 gone in one territory alone.

Pittsburg rep here. I'm good but we lost 7 or 8 (still waiting to hear from the 8th).

For those of you who thought this wasn't that big of a deal go screw. Some of my really good friends & great reps are jobless for Christmas.

Lets be honest, it sucks for people to lose their jobs but did we need this many reps in these small areas? Maybe if the industry rights itself and docs arent seeing 9 reps for the same drug over the course of 2 to 3 weeks the profession has a small chance of surviving another few years.

What the suburban or rural reps don't realize is that while you may have to drive 2 or more hours to see 150 docs, we (the urban reps) had 400+ doctors in a 30 minute radius. We needed the voices to see all the docs in the "small" area.

I don't think reps realize that the territories aren't based on miles, they're based on number of docs in an area.

Not only that but, where do you think the majority of influential specialty or interal docs are located...you guessed it Urban areas.

I was displaced in a metro area and I wish all of my displaced and placed co-workers luck.

The St. Louis area lost about 7 and there were more in the outlining areas of the state. Love how the VP said there would not be a reduction in head count with Impact 08. Does anyone know why this hasn't been in the press or why there hasn't ben any announcements like other big pharma companies do???

I heard S-A let go of about 900 reps.

The VP Rick Rice in St.Louis is without doubt the most slimy liar on the face of the earth. Never ever ever believe a word he says. And never turn your back.

you must be either an old rep or a dm cause even in smaller territories only 2 reps makes it a bit crazy. however, I do have to say when there were less I had alot more fun with my job before the merger...but to do this right before the holidays is to make the stock holders happy folks. It's all about the stock market and board members

and the north east got bombed out

I had a fat chick from NYC sit on my face last night. Needless to say, I was 'crushed.'

That other guy was being a chat board tough guy but I would rather be running to offices all day that need to see me (even if it is just for samples) than sitting in front of offices all day praying they wont remember one of my 100 counterparts was just in two days ago.
