When Pfizer bought Pharmacia, they made Pharmacia reps re-interview for open Pfizer positions once they made alignment maps for the products being acquired.

During that time, they offered all Pharmacia reps the option to opt out and take a severance buyout, and it was pretty generous and a lot of people did

They ended up keeping about half of Pharmacia's sales force, but it was very equitable because those who wanted to stay did and those who wanted to leave were able to

Very few people who wanted to stay on were shut out of a job.

Last post is correct...I believe this was a Pharmacia initiated process, so you probably should be asking Weyth for details, not us.
