Pfizer and GSK in HIV

Anybody else heard this rumor about some type of deal?

Now it is official. Any idea what that means from a rep standpoint? Consolidation?

Conf call just said trimming of sales forces starting in 2010

In Diedre's message, the way she said the "selection process" will communicated to us later was given as an afterthought. Not since Bob Ingram have I felt an executive @ GSK truly cared about the sales force, however the people since then have at least tried to appear like they did. This lady doesn't even pretend to value the sales force

At Pfizer, we call it a deselection process. At 85 15, I would think the jobs are Glaxo's

How many HIV Reps at Pfizer? There are about 100 at GSK

I did not hear the part about slimming sales force in 2010. I heard changes will probably come in 4th Quarter.

You are correct. They said they will see the cost saving effects of the trimming in 2010 but I suspect you are right that the hatchet will fall on or before Q4.

Don't feel like the lone ranger, Mr Witty said today that he sees future deals like the Pfizer deal in the works. Hang on to your hat, it looks like GSK is going to become a holding company with lots of small companies in the portfolio (conglomerate like GE), GSK/Pfizer HIV is just the first. Who will be next?
