What Happened to Sequenom?

In early March, PDI announced a new contract with Sequenom for promotion of pre-natal genetic testing. What has happened with that? Are they hiring a sales force, or giving it to existing sales reps? Anyone have any info?

I asked my manager about it a long time ago and they are wanting sales reps with nursing backgrounds only. From what I understand they won't consider anyone for the position unless they have that experience. Sorry but if I had nursing experience I wouldn't leave it to go into pharma sales.

I had a phone interview for the position recently and do not have a nursing background. Base is in mid 60's.

Are you in a major city or smaller city? Do you know anything about number of reps or anything about dates etc? thanks!

I need to ask again then b/c I don't have a nursing background, but I do have women's health background and had good relationship with my OB's from my previous job. I would have liked to have been considered for this position. Maybe it's b/c I am on the SA side??

I know that they don't have any reps of their own, its a one year position, base of 65k and thats about it. I'm not sure what kind of background they are looking for specifically, they should be scheduling face to face soon, at least thats what I was told. I'm not going to leave my job for a one year position so I didn't pursue it further. Hope that helps.

Yes, I agree that it is only a one year contract, but it could improve your resume if you wanted to move to the medical sales side.

From what I understand, consideration is being given to those with nursing background only. What do you have to lose by trying for it? I'd go for it.

No disrespect to nurses, they are very knowledgable but however I have been told from many Dm's that nurses don't make very good sales people. Sequenom needs to hire sales people!

based on the latest press release and abomination of its stock last week, it does not look like sequenomis hiring anytime soon.....

just wish the recruiter had the decency to deliver this info to me and anyone else on their radar!
