Lol Legion Knee

How comical was it to watch the O.R. Live webcast and see ALL the instrument trays plus the Legion trays opened on the back table!!!

I thought the idea was to REDUCE the amount of trays??? WOW, you guys are dumber than the Biomet chumps with their Arcom poly claims.

I thought the whole point was to save the hospital money by not having to open all the sets.

Two trays is the new configuration for a visionaire case. It is a surgeon's choice whether to open the normal amount of six, which is not a lot either for a primary knee.

A good rep will always ensure his/her surgeon is satisfied. We all face the conundrum of trying to please our Drs. and keeping costs as low as possible, but ultimately that decision is the Dr.'s. I'm sure, in time, I would not open the whole set, but NO REP, NO COMPANY AND NO SURGEON IS GOING TO DO A CASE WITHOUT THE BACKUP AVAILABLE. PERIOD.

The real savings here is in OR TIME, costs associated with blood loss, pain meds and maybe less trays processed over time(my sets live on the wall).

Let's not be naive either whenit comes to knee MRIs and full lenght X-RAYS. Those are REVENUE producing tests which the Hospitals profit from and thus offset costs. That is their motivation and if you are encouraging a off site facility you are missing a selling opportunity to your hospitals.

Great answer Kelly Willis. Why don't you get off your lazy ass and work for a change instead of being on this site all day!

I've seen all the different preop nav systems and that video wasn't very impressive. Seemed like there was slot of play in those guides, especially the Tibial. It also wasn't to good to see the nylon femoral guide get shredded.

I agree, about the video, but that's just S&N's incompetent product and marketing teams.
The femur fit like a glove but the tibia size and placement was a little off. As far as the nylon goes, what difference is there between that and some lap or ray tech debris? Not a problem.

I cant believe these guys get away with saying "its the ONLY FDA approved guide"! They even have their webcast docs say it!

I wish and hope SN reps in my territory are saying that they have the only FDA approved. It will spark a nice conversation when I slap down the brochure for my FDA approved Preop cutting blocks

That's just the Memphis product managers who don't work in the field thinking indications matter. Surgeons don't give a shit about indications, hell, they order 2G of ancef for 90lb little old ladies, they care about what works best and when you look in totality at the benefits of visionaire vs others their choice is EASY!

I am assuming you meant that the choice was easy ..... visonaire. Thats as bad as saying the only FDA approved. I saw the video of how sloppy those blocks looked. That would be like saying I'm going to walk into an office with my knee and show him all the features and the choice is easy. give me a break and stop drinking the kool-aid.

Speaking from my experience, the femur is always right on and, like the video, the tibia may require some ronguering, or just pinning it and putting the MIS tibia block on. The holes made from the blocks for the trials have been right on and our surgery time is under 30 minutes when using CR porous. This technology is here to stay. We may not make any money off it in the future but its here to stay.

Wow! The original poster must not have been in sales very long. Obviously, that is the surgeon's preference. With my surgeons, we only open two trays. It is seriously the easiest case.
